What are you Watching? (Educational)

That was really fun to watch and think about. And to experiment with. This gives me some ideas of how to test my new Meander version that supports up to 960 BPM and using the clocked trigger outs to get up to 7680 BPM (or 128 BPS), ranges where rhythm can become pitch information, etc.

I expected some listening examples but there weren’t any.

just a warning that there is only sound on left channel, right is silent. A wee bit hard to listen to that way…

Yes it is. First I thought, the problem is with my machine, because I’m actually setting up the Ubuntu Studio 22.04 from scratch, and yesterday I had the lucky punch to hear sound from all my speakers (PC Speaker System and monitor speakers on my audio interface). And this morning I started to show the video. And then I did found that all is ready on my machine. Ufff !

Never had a single audio issue on my M1 Mini, so not familiar with the gravity of Linux configuration for audio, but I would imagine that these days it’s not too difficult and more mature than it was many moons back where I tried to get someones Linux system stable, but gave up after every success ran into another hitch. So mostly adept at Linux servers running commercial headless UNIX or Linux systems… So was sure it’s not on my end

The Mac/Apple world is a completely unknown territory for me. I can’t speak to that at all. Almost 3 years ago I said goodbye to the Windows world and ended up with Ubuntu Studio in search of a suitable Linux distribution. The current version is - from my point of view - not comparable with its predecessors. Even the audio history - until now a middle nightmare - went like butter. It was helped by a perfect description, I did found in the Web. What follows now, of course, is the fine-tuning until everything works without stuttering and shearing, as I want it to. But as a pensioner I have time … :sunglasses:

I find this to be the consistently most inspiring documentary I’ve ever watched about music. Never fails to re-ignite my love of music by going back to basics. Watch it before it’s taken down again.

I had a nice exchange of messages with Charles Hazelwood when I was trying to track down if there would be an official release of T,D & A. Unfortunately there isn’t one.

He’s co-founder of The British Paraorchestra

He also made a very personal documentary

And T, D & A had the same affect on me

Watching his series at the moment called Reinventing the Orchestra which is very interesting.

I haven’t had a chance to see that one yet. I’ll watch out for it.
