Good one! What I really like about hearing Ciani speak is her honesty and lack of pretense or being caught up in frameworks that donât make sense to her. She goes back to first principles and their infinite amount of recombinations, and itâs very refreshing and liberating. Sheâs aware there are rules and she picks amongst them to gather the palette that enables her to make exactly what she wants to do. I think itâs close to the heart of what ever the philosophy of modular music instrument and music is. Great interview.
She has always been very gracious in sharing her experience
What fun and inspiration! Now I remember why her CDâs were always in my player in the '90âs. Alas, Iâm not sure where those CDâs went. Ciani and I got our start in modular synthesis in roughly the same time period. I feel she and I are kindred spirits, even though I have never seen her live.
As a self taught musician i donât know how accurate this video is but it seems like a pretty good overview and then deep dive to get a broad view of the music theory universe:
The music theory iceberg
Another classic from the archives. Lesley Juddâs spangly future jump suit is a wonder to behold too.
I saw the dark side tour, and live it was in quad, too
I saw the Bummymen play on tour in 1984 and theyâd borrowed some of PFâs old quad sound gear so could hit a chord and fling it 360 degrees round the hall, was pretty cool.
Another beauty from the BBC Archines.
