Thank You! Today I learned about VNV Nation.
My favorite VNV Nation songs:
- Praise the fallen
- Illusion
- Further
- Kingdom
- Rubicon
Yeah, you want the module to make noise for itself! I think I’ll wait till there’s a bit more stability… hoping it can wait till Black Friday and generally you’d want to show me the module in action and what it does before it fully convinces me
So far working well. Great plugin
Thank you. ![]()
For what is worth my pc is 10 years old. Win 10
That’s good news. I think that one of the effects might be leaking CPU, but I haven’t dug in yet to figure out which one. I’m finishing up a contracting gig at the moment, so I haven’t worked on the new module in a few days, but I should get back too it pretty soon.
Is Tracks in its final form, or will there be new features added at some point?
I’m open minded about adding features. You asked before… and I totally apologize if I overlooked this:
The one feature that would really make me get it is the possibility of changing play head direction and speed for each track.
I’ve added both of these requests to my task tracking system.
I say this with compassion but sincerity: I don’t think that these features will likely be added, due to the trade-off in usability vs. complexity.
I have to think to myself,
“How many users would benefit from being able to reverse the playhead? What’s the purpose? Would the front panel additions be worth it?”
Other things I consider are, “Can the user solve this themselves?” For playing tracks back at different rates, it seems like something that can be done before uploading tracks. If you want it to play at different speeds at different times, you can make various versions of the audio. Obviously it’s not a very user-friendly process. I totally acknowledge that.
What I might be able to do is eventually provide a expansion module that extends the module with more esoteric features. I don’t have plans for that right now though.
Can I ask, what are you trying to accomplish? What project are you working on where those features make a difference? I’d love to learn more about what you’re doing. I might come up with new module ideas based on your feedback.
Thanks for reaching out, Ravasb. I appreciate you and want to help.
I appreciate your response. Thank you. The reason I probably will not get tracks is that I tend to record audio in VCV and then play with the tracks in Ableton where I can do a lot of the stretching, etc. Having multiple options on play head position for the tracks in Tracks would give me some added creativity which is not quite as easy in Ableton. Just a thought. Not every module will be for each person. I am very much enjoying the other modules of yours that I bought, and am looking forward to what else you come up with.
When you’re dong this, I’m curious if it’s just a single track, or multiple tracks? The reason that I’ve asked it that the idea of having a sample editing module directly in vcv rack has crossed my mind.
Users have asked me in the past, for example, if my Spores module provided a way of cropping samples. (It does not.)
I’ve imagined a module which can help with slicing and cropping a beat with the intention of looping it. If your workflow involves bouncing audio to separate software for preparation, would this be something worth having directly in VCV Rack so you could quickly record, modify, and reload samples?
A module like that would be great if I could drag and drop the sample right into my DAW.
Looks great! Is that a performance X/Y-pad for the CVs on the lower right?
Correct!
They have a few different settings for how they react to the CV inputs (replace or sum), as well as when happens when you release the mouse button (return to 0, or stay in place).
Hopefully I’ll have a few preview videos for the upcoming Effects Bank. This is my first, and quite left-field.
these videos are amazing…
was that music track made for the demo?
These are so awesome!! Incredibly greatful that we’re getting more spectral processors. Incredibly big fan of the advanced groovebox and can’t wait to use it!!
That’s perfect! I should recreate that setup and see if I can find out what’s causing the audio discontinuity (and the popping sounds). UPDATE: Looks like SyncStutter is is culprit. I’ll see if I can smooth out those edges.
