That’s a good idea. I’ll make that change.
OK, here’s how I ended up doing it. I added a drop down menu instead of a knob, and have four options for which 4 channels are sent to the outputs. This means that you may need to use more than one split module if you’re trying to access a lot of channels, but it helps keep things tidy. ![]()
Aw, I kinda liked longggg sub module, but so long as it’s easier to use it’s fine
Just poking my head in here for a moment. I’ve been working on a LOT of new ideas, as well as major enhancements to the Groovebox Advanced.
For the Groovebox Advanced, I’m working on some
breaking changes
when it comes to the clock module. The old clock module was confusing, so I’ve broken it out into three modules:
- BPMClock - and internal BPM based clock
- TrackCLK - the clock signal that’s being routed to the track
- PolyClock - all of the 16 clock signals. (Useful if you’re using a polyphonic input for the clock and/or reset inputs)
Also for the Groovebox advanced, I’ve added visualizations for many of the sub-modules. These appear when double-clicking on a sub-module. Here are a few examples:
And, of course, while I was taking screen captures, it mysteriously crashed on me. Doh! I’m not really surprised. There’s a lot going on. On the bright side, there’s a lot of fun things on the horizon!
Tonight I created a module prototype that is .. unique?
I need some help testing it out.
Would any Windows users be open to help me test it? (I can only create builds for Windows.)
Sorry for the cloak-and-dagger. I would prefer to not embarrass myself if the concept turns out to be a total disaster.
Cheers, Bret
Sure I will test it for you
just send it over
As usual Bret, if you’ll need beta-testing on Windows 10, no problemo!
Well, I’ve decided to offer this up for testing to whomever wants to play with it. It would be part of my free module collection – assuming there’s demand for it.
You can see who’s streaming at: https://voxglitch-stream-relay.fly.dev/
Here’s the build with both of the new modules:
The UUIDs can be set in the context menu of both modules:
This looks very cool, very intriguing
Thanks!
My plan is: See if the idea gains momentum. Probably not, but who knows. ![]()
I’m streaming now ![]()

I’m hearing it, but there’ seems to be a lot of lag, which I suppose I’ll need to address.
I’m re-streaming your stream, but with more weird.
listening to your “re-stream” gives me only a bit metallic sounding flanging sweeps
should it be this way?
You should hear strange delays.
The amount of jitter is killing me though. I might need to do something like compress the audio before sending it, or use better buffering. Or downsampling to 44Khz before streaming.
I’m going to close my stream and try to troubleshoot the latency issues.
I closed my stream too,
but there should be a knob/button on the stream out module
to stop/interrupt the stream
I had to delete the module
and trying to delete the stream in module crashed VCV
Good point. I’ll report back once I have a new version. Thanks for helping me test! Yeah, I’ve been getting crashes as well. It has something to do with using a threading system, which I’ll also try to fix.
It’s very possible that this module might be too troublesome for me to actually build and release. It would a support nightmare. Ha ha ha.
Very cool idea! The nullband anonymous radio picked up a lot of support right away on Elektronauts ( nullband - General Discussion - Elektronauts ). If it seems like this module is too problematic, it might be worth reaching out to the dev and supporting that streaming protocol.
I had a community member contact me with some sense of disappointment for some bugs in recent releases.
Here’s me, right now, tonight in front of my monitors
I’m posting this because I know that I have my flaws. I don’t always have time to test my modules like a professional software development company should, and that can lead to frustration. I hope that I’m not your enemy. I’m just trying to pursue a hobby, and also trying to keep myself financially afloat.
Over the past week, I’ve made updates to Groovebox Advanced to address some bugs and missing functionality. I’ve also heard that some Mac users are having issues with the newly released Tracks module. I’ll be following up on that soon.
Cheers, Bret
