And velocity in for recording?

Sure, I can do that. :+1:

Wow, already in the library!? Cool, I’ll be sure to add this to my collection, it pairs nicely with some new oscillators that were added recently.

Hi everyone! I have a new module in the works. This will be another FREE module.

The general idea is…

It’s an automation sequencer with up to 16 channels of automation. All 16 channels are output on a polyphonic output, but the first 8 are also available as individual outputs. (This might change. I may be able to rearrange things so that there are 16 individual outputs.)

In the screen capture, the bottom row of jacks are outputs, and the top row are inputs and controls.

The interface has:

  • Scroll wheel zoom
  • Simple horizontal scroll bar for scrolling around the automation
  • Chase lock for playback
  • Basically infinite length automations

It’s a pretty simple utility module. The panel design will be revised, and it’s just thrown together, so please overlook any front panel issues.

Just another terrific idea! You could leave it poly out, it’s what a split is good for. Then you could line up inputs with the associated controls. Any way you do it, this form factor and layout looks super useful for long form modulation.

Beautiful!

Fully agree with @cubistguitar, can just have one poly out, individual output ports not needed.

If possible (especially with respect to CPU), it would be marvelous if all input controls (CLK, RST, Play, Stop, Loop etc.) were fully polyphonic.

If a polyphonic signal enters the controlling port, each channel is served individually. If only one channel (monophonic) comes in, it would be multiplied to all channels equally.

Or perhaps have one or more switches for setting number of channels in the context menu.

Whatever you do, I am sure it will be great!

This looks pretty cool.

“Alphagem-O”: " it would be marvelous if all input controls (CLK, RST, Play, Stop, Loop etc.) were fully polyphonic."

this was my first thought too,
if it could have different loop length it would be great for controlled “random” modulations.

if something says `Polyphonic` then I expect all ins and outs to be polyphonic, else we need another tag like `Fully Polyphonic` . Which would be bad.

I know it’s a freebie, but my requests would be:

Selectable curves for each segment; I’m thinking about my automation lane habits in REAPER

Switchable Tempo/Time for grid

Is this another module to accompany your recent piano roll? Looks like more song mode fun in VCV! But I’ll be more likely to use constantly evolving modulation that doesn’t adhere to strict automation curves, unless I was composing modular and maybe wanted it to sound specific for what I’m doing. Can’t wait to see it in the library!

Oh, I hadn’t thought of that! Sure, consider it done!

That could be somewhat challenging, but I’ll look into it. :man_bowing:

That’s wonderful, thanks very much! With full polyphony, it’ll be like having 16 modules in one .

I’m not sure whether there is a standard in nomenclature, but practically every developer seems to have their own definition of the ‘polyphonic’ tag.

I rarely find that ‘everything’ (that makes sense) is polyphonic, and especially modulation inputs are often neglected.

As I’ve said before, I am not complaining at all, as I have a tremendous amount of respect for module developers. But semantic harmonization would make things quite a bit easier.

@clone45 You are the best! :folded_hands:

Very true. I’m certainly guilty of this. I also noticed that one of my old modules, “Digital Sequencer XP” has trigger outputs on the gate output. I might do a little tidying over the next few days to give the older modules some love.

Hi! I have a preview build of “Timeline” available for PC and Mac, if anyone wants to kick the tires. Links below…

Windows:

Mac:

really looks amazing, if you are curious about the curves idea, Entrian does this very easily with hovering over the line segment and ctrl J will exponential the line a bit, and more each time you hit it, then when it is full exponential, it begins offering logarithmic , ctrl S will curve it more like an S curve in one direction, more and more each hit, and then curve the other way. it is pretty quick and effective

Ok, curves it is! I’m not using the Entrian controls. Instead, its a bit more visual, with a little diamond appearing that you can drag around to adjust the curve. This will ship with the final module, but I’m too lazy to update the preview builds, which take 30 or 40 minutes of work to get prepped. Thanks for asking for this. :clinking_beer_mugs:

Here’s another curve:

Ok you are a fountain of fun stuff lately. Gotta ask will this move at audio rates, looks like a cool oscillator if so.

Well, in practice, no. I mean, it does move at audio rates, but the zoom factor only drills down so far. I admire people who do things like paint a screen capture by hand, pixel by pixel, in MS Paint. But… I would suspect that a module where you hand draw an entire song using waveforms and slopes might have a … limited audience. Ha ha ha.

you are a fountain of fun stuff lately

It’s how I spend my nervous energy without work. If you hear of anything, please let me know!
