VCV Rack 2 does not load in Windows 10, Fatal SIG 22

Tested on Audient Asio drivers and DirectSound with routing to Realphones. VCV Pro does not see Jack audio driver. Think they will make an update

Hi! First post. I also have the 22 SIG issue. I’ve been reading in the forum how others have solved the problem. However, I have no soundcard/Jack/asio4all a.s.o. drivers installed, which has been the problem for others. VCV Rack 1 worked fine for me. I’m on a Windows 10 PC.

Maybe it does not like that you have named the device Høgtalare or Högtalare…just a guess

Maybe. That’s the standard speakers on my laptop so that woud mean that VCV only runs on the english version of Windows 10. Not sure if I’m able to rename that.

Those are easy to rename.

Right-click on speaker icon next to windows clock. Select ‘Sounds’. Select Playback tab. Right-click on the device, select properties. Rename it.

That wasn’t it, renamed Högtalare to Speakers.

Hi I think your user folder is “strange”

Mine is C:\Users\MYNAME\Documents\Rack2

Loading settings C:/Users/MYNAME/Documents/Rack2/settings.json

Are you able to make a rack2 folder in your document folder ?

This did the trick for me, tks!

I am following your discussion regarding “Fatal Sig 22”. I am running VCV RACK2 on two different but very similar machines. One machine works fine, the other is reporting the following error below. Please find the logfile attached also. -------------------------------- [0.062 info src/rtaudio.cpp:255 RtAudioDriver] Found RtAudio WASAPI device 2: Lautsprecher (SoundID Reference Virtual Audio Device) (0 in, 2 out) [0.170 fatal adapters/standalone.cpp:60 fatalSignalHandler] Fatal signal 22 SIG. Stack trace: log.txt (1.9 KB) -------------------------------- I am using SoundId Reference for calibrating speakers in a specific acoustic “environment”. I run it on all my computers and would not want to deactivate it if any possible. Also, the same setup works fine on the other machine.

Do you have any idea for a workaround, maybe? Thanks in advance.

Best Heiko

There is a new version.

Thanks for your reply. I am on 2.0.3b. I think this is the lates release? Is there another one maybe? Best Heiko

I had the same fatal sig 22 with vcv2 pro 2.0.3b. I put user folder outside onedrive, disabled unnecessary audio devices, and run 2.0.4 . I ve managed to run vcv vst in ableton and im happy!! In standalone i get BSOD , im sure this has to do with my soundcards asio drivers.thnx development team!!

Fantastic - I’ve been going crazy. I couldn’t understand why VCV Rack 2 suddenly wouldn’t start and sure enough - I’ve had my Elektron Analog Four on these past days, which I haven’t had in a while - and that did the trick!

Had the same problem here. Uninstalling Jack audio fixed it.

Many thanks!

Holy cow!! I had the exact same problem with 2 not even starting, but 1.6 works just fine. The problem? I also own Elektron gear and have Overbridge installed. Once these two items (Analog Keys and Analog Rytm) were turned off, V2 worked fine! Just wanted to report because I was glad to see such a fast solution.

Oh, it’s also worth mentioning that if you turn Overbridge mode off in the actual Elektron equip settings, everything should work. Furthermore, this seems to be a problem with the Analog Keys only and not the Analog Rytm?? The Rytm can still have overbridge mode running, and it seems works fine on my system. I will keep reporting anything else I find if it’s useful…

Windows 10 (currently not activated lol) AMD Ryzen 7 5700G CPU/built in graphics (???-!!!)

I can confirm as well that you have to go through your more exotic audio devices or midi drivers. In my case it was a midi driver i had only installed for updating external gear. Uninstalled this, and now VCV Rack works.

I had two RME Fireface 800’s and an Avid Mbox2 connected to my Windows desktop. Disconnected the Mbox2 and finally audio in Rack2 is behaving.

Is this connected to Rack2’s reported ability to load multiple soundcards, but only if it likes them?!

Just have to figure out where my midi devices have gone to now !!!

Just encountered this on my end.

MOTU Ultralite AVB driver 90067 was the cause of this.

Rolling back to driver v. 89612 fixed it.

Hopefully that helps someone else stuck with this annoying crash.

For me it has been solved by desactivation of the built-in Realtek audio driver. Strange.
