Rack 2 Free works but invisible (win 10)

Hi! I removed vcv rack 1 and installed vcv rack 2 free instead, but it doesn’t show up (without errors) and still working. This is the log from the user folder:

What should I do? ( Thanks

Try holding windows-key and pressing D a couple of times.

Thank for reply! I tried it but it doesn’t help…

and “(Аудио Intel(R) для дисплеев)”

try renaming audio interfaces to US ASCII characters

I renamed it, but the same result ( also I have no Cyrillic characters in the folder paths

Do you get an icon in the taskbar?

If you shift right click it, there should be an option to maximise. Might help

Thanks, but icon is hidden ( I have only mic icon with tooltip “Rack.exe is using your microphone” (it was the same with the first version). Also I see Rack.exe process in Task Manager by ctrl + alt + delete

Is that all there is in your log.txt ?

you can put it all on https://pastebin.com/ perhaps and we can take a look

also, you can try starting rack from a command prompt - perhaps it prints some info there that is not logged to log.txt

and you can try with another dir using the commandline option -u

something simple like c:\testdir

I had this problem too - Rack would start, appear in the taskbar, but would not show a window - a few days ago (probably 2.0.1) and I nuked the whole installation and data to solve it. It has not happened since. Removing autosave, my template, and my plugins did not fix it. If it happens again I’ll be more systematic about it.

Further, I had FL Studio ASIO installed when 2.0.0 came out, and Rack always started with a error message about it, but did start. I uninstalled it.

I would suggest remove the FL ASIO driver, and if that fails, doing a completely clean install (which will recreate the data directories).

something similar happened today after doubleclicking the title-bar by accident. vcvrack minimized and went invisible.

i managed to get it back by ctrl+shift+right-clicking the “vcv rack 2 free” taskbar icon and selecting maximize…

so you’re not even getting this here, only the mic button in the notification area?

iQKiSrgxtc

same happening for me just now !

Got the same here. Solved with: right-click + shift the program icon in the taskbar

I was having this issue, I could see Rack.exe in details but not running the user interface (not hidden, not even running under processes).

I just updated JACK to 1.9.19 and now it’s running as it should…

Hi! You were right! ) I found out from support team that VCV Rack is hanging while querying the name of one of my ASIO drivers:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO\ASIO Fireface USB]
"CLSID"="{ECE3DEFE-B1FA-4927-ABBF-F21656F27C39}"
"Description"="ASIO Fireface USB"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO\FL Studio ASIO]
"CLSID"="{188135E1-7171-3434-854F-01A3C71F3DF9}"
"Description"="FL Studio ASIO"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO\JackRouter]
"CLSID"="{838FE50A-C1AB-4B77-B9B6-0A40788B53F3}"
"Description"="JackRouter"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO\Waves SoundGrid]
"CLSID"="{75BB3792-DCE7-4199-9935-4C1BB8F50C90}"
"Description"="Waves SoundGrid ASIO"

When I removed “JackRouter” - problem disappeared!

Thanks so much for everyone!
