Pics Of Your Studio

Thanks. I didn’t know you could use it as an LPF, no. Thanks for that link.

I’ve actually just recently put Symbiote on it; it was on Parasites before. In that patch, which was an expanded version of Tom Churchill’s excellent recent patch using the A-160-2 Clock Divider as a subharmonic generator, I was lazily using the Disastrous Peace reverb in Symbiote (when Rings is sitting there above, unused!) to soften some lively glitching coming off the Data Bender. My excuse was that I was trying all 4 of the Mutable reverbs to see which suited the patch best. Symbiote will be staying for those alone!

It is great that people continue to produce firmware for Mutable modules. I just wish somebody would write something else for Beads, which I don’t really get on well with.

Q for you: Wave Multipliers or Triple+ Waveshaper?

I mainly make drone and am inclining towards the latter as my next Serge module somewhere in the future.

My little corner of Heaven, a humming hybrid system made possible in no small part by the generous sharing of knowledge and software in this community. Thank you all!

My current setup. Cheap desks, packing foam speaker stands, an old kitchen shelf for the monitor and apparently an aversion to cable management!

The rack keeps changing, here is it’s latest state :

I love it !

I know It will keep changing, that is part of the fun, but some modules have been part of it since the beginning and keep being used a lot, so maybe some day it will be the same for all of it ? One can dream…

Very nice.

How are your finding Nautlus? Some people seem a little perplexed by it.

I am tempted to get rid of my Magneto, which I don’t love (!), and replace it with either a Nautilus or a Sealegs. All different beasts I know.

Thanks ! I am having fun indeed

Oh you just walked into a debate I am having with myself right now !

Nautilus is a bit complicated : when I need a “normal” delay, I have to put everything at minimum value (except timing, D/W and feedback) and it is ok but not extra sexy. When I want something a bit more inspiring I often fail to get it from it. So I want to get rid of it, but then I “try one last time” and when abusing everything and going its direction it is nice ! So I don’t know… I might end up selling it and making space for a Sealegs instead (since I want to sell my Non-Linear Memory Machine too). I like it when I try to turn something irregular into a wash of texture (like Nebulae’s output to Nautilus to FX Aid for exemple).

Magneto I want to keep, it sounds good on anything, I love to play Morphagene through it (no dry, only one tap, full volume, center, no feedback, and it just gives you the tape sound with no delay. Of course you can add delay (other taps, adding feedback…), but the “tape” sound of Magneto on Morphagene’s moving loops is something I always find inspiring. I like it’s looping mode too…

Sealegs looks awesome, I want one ! On paper it could do a lot, has CV Ins, attenuverters, etc etc… WANT.

OK, Sealegs it is then

Nice! the patch sounds very interesting! I think Simbiote still need a few version before being we calibrated, I exchanged with the dev and helped a bit for the last version, but the project seems sleeping right now.

Easy answer; I sold my 3x+WS (with only 15% of regret  ) and kept my wave multiplier, if you must choose, WM would be the first choice, because of the bottom section that provide something similar than 3x+WS

For the WM Top section is a classic VCA, very warm with great distortion switch medium section is THE wave folder, no intro needed, it’s also self oscillating  Bottom section is a waveshaper/comparator

The 3x+WS is great as well, but more esoteric. It has been designed for a purpose that doesn’t make any sense today, but it is made to be hacked. It’s 4 of the same distortion pedal in one module, all chainable with switches! The mysterious thing is that the CV inputs doesn’t control the same parameters as knobs so it’s made to be modulated to really take advantage. it can also self oscillate in low frequencies and become a weird drum module! anyway, it’s also great but more distortion oriented, and it’s better in a large system as yours, as it needs lots of audio to process and cv to modulate

Thanks for a really thorough answer. I think I’m going to fence sit a while longer.

Because I’m a DIY nut, I have half a dozen waveshapers and folders to choose from, and they’re all slightly different, and most are Serge-inspired, so I may not gain anything from either module.

But then again, I know from my two Serge builds that they are truly exceptional modules, and I can’t help that feeling that there is some magic fairy dust in the originals. If they were DIY I wouldn’t hesitate (I know I can build the Elby ones, but then I wouldn’t get those gorgeous panels).

You are one of 4 people I’ve seen make the same choice between the two, and I trust your judgment anyway. I have a couple of valve units in my rack that cover my distortion needs.

Thanks again Pyer.

My little faux eurorack setup.

One of my Adam’s is borked so no brackets fabricated yet.

These days, I’m more likely to be found creating on this couch that I recently bought than in the studio. It’s not that the studio isn’t great. It’s just that the comfort of my new sectional has really won me over.

I was looking since the dawn of time for a kinda “turing machine + quantizer”, and here there are 2 of them, with hands-on control on just the right parameters.
tz-FM, ring mod, lp/bp SV filter, wavefolder, good signal routing possibilities and a patchbay…

good job Moog, finally you sold something to me :no_mouth:

.

btw: I would not spend 700€ to use it standalone, no way.
but it is the piece of the puzzle I was looking for my modular ambient setup.
now I need more space to grab a second one, when it comes the time.

it takes 2 minutes to configure it in windows before using it

in VCV Rack it is recognized as the same main keyboard of the PC by the MIDI-GATE module

12 buttons = gates

2 endless encoders, stepped and clickable:
click the encoder = gate
rotary step = 2 individual triggers (CW different from CCW … with stoermelder PILE = wow)

very nerdy, time to put in the eurorack case

Well, so far I’m enjoying this-

Not at home atm, so no ARP to see.
