Hello fellow rackheads!
Yeah, I took the deep plunge and built myself a Eurorack system. Oh boy…
My over two year journey with VCV Rack led me to this point, and I’m not abandoning playing with it. Actually the idea with the system is to compliment Rack. Although it is fairly self contained it will form a hybrid system together with Rack, via the ES-9, where Rack will be used for mixing, mastering, recording, additional sequencing and modulation, and additional voices. I’m very thankful for everything I’ve learned using Rack, all the basics of modular and patching, and it’s that experience which has led me to this point.
The thing is, I sit in front of a computer all day, and I’m getting a bit fed up with the mouse. So it was time for physical knobs and cables, and it just feels like a logical and natural progression. Although I can’t quite believe that I’ve actually done this, I’m now very happy I have. I have a fully assembled and ready system sitting in front of me, and here she is:
The build of it is completed, except for the Instruo TS-L which is on back order. It’s been quite the learning process, researching, planning and building this, but also very exiting! Today is the birthday of my first system, and to celebrate it, here are literally some of the first sounds coming out of it. Just some simple stuff - a new baby saying hello to the world:
In this post I will be sharing some of the sounds and music that I’ll be making only on this system. In my regular Rack music thread I’ll continue to post patches and pieces that involve VCV Rack more, just to keep within the guidelines of the forum I guess.
Please feel free to post your comments or questions on the system or modules, or the process of building it, if you have any. I’m more than happy to talk about it. It’s all a great and enjoyable learning experience to me, which I’m always very happy to be sharing with you all. Adds to the enjoyment where I’m concerned.
So here I go, on with the next phase of my modular journey - very exiting stuff
