Is there a way to take a poly out from the MixMaster (Junior) and send the outputs of each track to Audio 16 so I can get 8 stereo tracks into my DAW ?

If I understand your question correctly, you can just use a poly splitter module before the Audio 16, as illustrated here with docB S16:

Thanks Yeager, I’m an old fellow and sometimes putting two and two together takes time. I’ve never used the Poly outs before but all I needed to do was read a little and voila!

Related question - suppose I already have sends set at various levels in the mixmaster expander and then decide I want to route to the daw via audio16 like fpssdave is doing. Is there a way to get the output of each individual track, with its respective send effects, individually routed to an input (or pair of inputs) in audio16? I know that Grp/Aux Poly Direct outputs sends for all affected channels together, but I’d like to get each separate channel with just its separate send effect.

perfect timing! i just began dipping into MixMaster this week and have been pondering this same question.

I’ve wanted to do this many times. I often want to export tracks via NYSTHI PolyRecorder and then “mix/master” them in my DAW, but I’ve only ever found a way to get the dry track signals (no send effects) . Sure hope there’s a secret or not so secret incantation that will add the send returns to each track.

No, absolutely not. The send effects are ganged (there’s an old analog audio word we don’t see enough nowadays, Ganged). That is the very definition of a group buss.
You would need to make an instance of every effect for every channel in MixMaster and apply that to those channels individually. As an insert or just on its own. Kinda defeats the purpose of a Mixer.

Yes, it is kind of antithetical to the idea of a mixer. Was hoping to keep the convenience of sends but also flexibility to route to the daw on a whim. Often I prefer to just stay within vcv, until I don’t. Thanks for your reply!
Interesting(?) discovery: Unmeld will indeed split direct outs from MixMaster (&Jr.) but… only post-fader, AFAICT.
I scratched around to see if this routing can be otherwise configured, but so far have not found out if there’s a pre-fader selection.
arrrgh! …so embarrassing. i was left-clicking to death and never saw it. wow is that ever helpful – and of course, entirely consistent with the high degree of module conception & execution.

thanks so much! i’m not sure what i had wrong (i might have been right-clicking on Unmeld rather than the mixer!) in any case i am pleased to learn more, and especially pleased that a software thing can be so very “hardware” at its core (perhaps more, as i see, than a lot of hardware!)
