A new rabbit hole (AI art & music)

I’m sucked in now too. Here’s a fun one:

This is really interesting. Maybe I should try turning one of these into a VCV Rack module.

Ehh, with Midjourney running through Discord it’s a bit social-media-y in the way you can see - and interact with - what other people are doing; there’s art stuff, meme stuff, experiments and then there seem to be some who use it for logos, for product shots or interiors and I’m pretty sure that, for now and then some, you are more likely than not to set yourself up for a world of pain if you try to do client work with this, without having the still needed actual skills to make it work.

On the other hand, creators of abstract-painterly wall art probably have a reason to feel threatened. Midjourney at least has a way with colours and composition that’s pretty astounding.

(Spend some time with “motel room”)

That’s probably why I’m not more worried than that haha. Abstract art is one thing, client demands are another. But for inspiration it can be cool.

Looks oddly like Randy Hansen.

Here’s a neat tip for anyone who might want to print any of these ‘creations’. I tested enlarging an upsized image to a size suitable for printing. It actually looks really good.

It is true that sometimes it can be difficult to cajole it in the right direction, but you also have to consider your text prompt and potential image sources;

if you do an image search for jimi hendrix, at least 50% if not more of the images are of him with a guitar, which is fairly different to the majority of “portrait” poses. Then consider that very few of Klimts paintings have traditional proportions, you are fighting an uphill battle with those two subjects I think… but your results do look nice

I find that if you are trying to get to something specific, a guidance image can help a lot, especially with either poses or faces, here is some Steve Vai by Rembrandt

…and here is some Ziggy Warhol…

On a basic subscription I signed up for today and I’m probably at least a quarter of the way through my month. It’s addictive stuff. A bit hit and miss on results so far, but I quite like these

Wow! I like those giraffe trees! Could be used as a cover for an album.

Here are my first tests. It’s not so easy to take the bot where you want it to go. I added a mondian image to give some structure, but it rather understood minimalism !

It’s a long way from a modular system

And I did like Purf, just try the word yellow. After some iteration I came up with this.

By mixing the two it ends up giving something interesting

But I have to say it’s at least as addictive as VCV, haha

PS : by the way, I don’t know why, but I couldn’t upload the images directly to the forum. I had to use a webhost, but then when you click on an image you don’t see the full image but you go to the homepage of the webhost.

To download an image you use the upload button, right? Or did I miss something ?

Wow, I love the 2nd & 3rd image there, really cool De Stijl vibe

When i upload images to this forum i just simply copy and paste them, click on the image in discord to open it, right click on it to copy, then ctrl-v in the reply dialog and it automatically uploads the image

Your Mondrian idea has sent me down a whole new interesting avenue…

Ah yes far more simple. thank for the trick. Il like the fourth image.

And just for a quick test, but the damn bot, dont want to give me modular haha. Nor does it accept the word knob ! Knob is forbidden haha. Can someone with english skill explain this. Googlish this word, and I don’t see nothing special.

as in many other cases, it’s yet another slang term for the male sex organ

Thought this came out quite nicely

When I worked in the West End of London I’d go to the National Gallery at least once a month as it was just a short walk from my office. One of my favourite paintings to see in there was Waterhouse’s The Lady of Shalott. It doesn’t seem great in prints, but up close it’s a magnificent work. So I asked MidJourney to do a variation on it, it still can’t do faces, but I thought this wasn’t a bad effort at capturing some of the style

Ah ok Thank

And is there an alternative term for synth knobs ?

Maybe pots? Or something. I am not a native english speaker myself, so I am not sure. But pots sound right. Even though there are different meaning to this word too… Switch? Nah… Handle? mb
