I literally mentioned the other day, in that very topic, how Hirstâs (current?) main thing is telling his assisstants to /imagine spot paintings in the style of Thomas Downing
A friend of a friend when I was a student in the early nineties was a fine artist specialising in stained glass, she said sheâd done a load of things with her mates at art college on a summer job that turned out to be things Hirst would later stick his signature on. Itâs hearsay, but Iâve since heard similar from multiple sources.
Hereâs the easiest method Iâve found for trying Stable Diffusion. If your computer meets the minimum requirements, just download the package and run it to your heartâs content.
My graphics card canât get images above 512px, so the results are a bit underwhelming in terms of clarity. But itâs still fun to throw a bunch of prompts at it and let it rip when the computer isnât doing anything else. Itâs great for testing many prompts in rapid succession. The models still donât seem to have a good grasp of what a modular synthesizer is. But the rapid progress of all these tools is so cool to see. Exciting times for art!
the Nativity scene. Also, I want to play with the second to last one.
The prompt for the second to last: âModular Synthesizer with blinking LEDs and cables, ancient diorama, candlelightâ Go nuts!
Oh I get it, you want to actually play that instrument. Yeah me too. They all sound really good in my mind. Perhaps just slightly out of tune. Haha
⌠but for real, on my table Yes.
What a time to be alive !
I must say, the new MidJourney Remaster
concept is doing some lovely things.
Iâve developed a cool new workflow where I go to the website archive tab, find a previous upscale that I wasnât 100% happy with, open it and copy the job ID, paste that into the /show
command, then click the Remaster
button and start a whole new journey with an old idea, tweaking and creating variationsâŚ
For example:
this
remastered into thisand this
remastered into thisI also got an email from Dall-E announcing outpainting which looks really cool, wana try this out sometime
Quick question! Are there any AI engines that can generate realistic knobs and other front panel elements yet?
I believe that sort of thing gets your MidJourney account suspended
Ha ha ha. I know, âknobâ is forbidden. Maybe thatâs why most control knobs still just look like orbs in MidJourey.
Iâve not seen anything like that from the publicly available tools that Iâve seen. Every tool Iâve used results only in abstractions of the various parts, cables, dials, etc. Iâve only gotten one single image with the correct number and relationship of white to black piano keyboard keys. It was obviously a lucky coincidence out of many attempts and still looks extremely sketchy.
Does look like fun to play though.
Probably the way to get closest right now would be to set up a model yourself and teach it with an appropriate and extensive dataset. Not a trivial task, but it could be done for such a specific purpose. Or wait for ML engineers to refine and expand existing models to a level where itâs possible to generate accurate 2D images and also accurate 3D models. It might not be too far in the future. But for now, trying to get something close to âa synthesizer with 2 rows of 3 dials, each with an 1/8 inch input jack and an attenuverterâ is an exercise in frustration. AI tools arenât the right tool for such precision design work yet.
I hope my opinions stated here become outdated very soon.
tbh, I quite like (and hope) that /imagine make this realistic thing that exists
continues to be a futile exercise.
Well this isnât a completely terrible result.
However, the results are vastly better using ânecronomicon synthesizerâ.
Always remember to use the right tools for the job!
They look good for making Soul Music
