I can’t even list ten modules because I have so many options, I like to spice it up or it depends on what I’m doing, but here are some modules I frequently use a lot

Impromptu clocks

VCV Host, by far one of the most used modules since I can put my other effects in it

Surge VCA/ADSR

Mutable Rings/Plaits(and any other versions out there in VCV)/Marbles

ALM Busy Circuits MCO mkII, also serves as a metronome in my template patch

Geodesics Hexaquark, for rhythmic triggers

There’s some others that might also be in this list like Sofia’s Daughter, Stepwave, Zoo, and I’m sure to get some use out of modules like Pamela’s Pro Workout, Super Wonk, Envelope City, VCV Spectra once I buy them later, and I’m a fan of random modulations and unusual oscillators

Good idea. can be usefull for beginners.

I don’t count native VCV modules like VCA, Seq3, VCV scopes etc… Although absolutely essential, there is no need to add them. (And it’s a bit more easy haha)

  1. Mindmeld MixMaster
  2. CLKD or Clocked
  3. valley plateau (reverb)
  4. Alright Devices Chronoblob2 (delay)
  5. BogAudio S&H
  6. Surge (a bit of cheating here as I considere Surge as a unique synth sliced into modules)
  7. Bogaudio FMOP
  8. valley Feline
  9. Vult trummor
  10. VCV Host (this one is premium so I add it)

As the number of modules begin to be crazy I think listing your ten favorite develloper may be more realistic. And also usefull for newcomer who can be lost.

Maybe we should name our favorite 10 plugins. I can take a stab at mine.

  1. Venom
  2. CV Funk
  3. Sickozell
  4. Sapphire
  5. DanT for purfenator
  6. MindMeld
  7. Path Set Grains
  8. Voxglitch
  9. 4ms
  10. VCV

This is sort of too short, but it does contain my favorite plugins right now.

Here is my list. I don’t use many plugins because they just look awful. Some of them look like child’s toys, and I think that the eye wants something too.

Venom

Voxglich

Stoermelder

VCV

ML Modules

Impromptu

Bogaudio

Nysthi

Mindmeld

DocB

It’s funny, you like almost exactly the same plugins as I do. Even in almost the same order. Really impressive.

for me it is not a ranking. i thought about, which modules I use a lot, or which one is necessary for me. and I do not use all of the brands. e.g. from HoyerHoppes only the envelope generator. or from Nysthi some, or ML also.

Yeah I don’t see much benefit in making top ten lists of anything, but there are a few modules I use a lot that I haven’t seen in many other people’s patches. In no particular order, I reckon these deserve more love:

Studio Six Plus One - Wallenda:

An awesome resonator, great for playing guitar through and creating physical modelling patches. Also Masarti comb filter and the Maccomo filter are great, from the same collection.

Bisett - ‘It’s Good Cholesterol’:

Bonkers granular delay with four modes and polyphonic output for the playheads.

Unfiltered Audio - Instant Delay:

Incredible granular delay, and the only one I’ve found that is polyphonic AND has a send/return loop, for producing face-melting metallic feedback with a resonant filter in the loop. Glitch Delay is also good, it’s a commercial collection but well worth the money just for Instant Delay.

VCV Pro - Various Effects:

These are all excellent, and seem underrated. I use the flanger and phaser a lot in particular because they’re polyphonic, and have a V/Oct input for direct control of the effect. They both ping really nicely too. I guess it’s the fact that most people have the free version of VCV that stops them being used more widely.

VCV - Sound Stage:

Sorry, another one you have to pay for but seems fairly unique! You can very the height, width and length of a room reverb in real time. These parameters don’t have CV inputs but I usually modulate them anyway using Stoermelder, which can be a really subtle spacial effect or totally psychedelic.

Cytomic - CF100 VCF:

Again not free, but arguably the most analogue sounding filter in VCV

Infrasonic - Warp Core:

A brilliant VCO using phase distortion synthesis. Also free! Doesn’t have all the features of the hardware version but makes some really interesting waveforms. ALM Cizzle is great too (also phase distortion but not free).

Sanguine Mutants - Anuli:

Polyphonic Rings clone. Enough said! In fact all of the mutants collection is great, and now also contains polyphonic alternative firmware versions of Clouds, so you can do fully polyphonic Rings into Clouds. If you have to.

The benefit would be more for newcomers. If there were only a “hundred” modules, it wouldn’t be very interesting, but now there are nearly 4,000! It’s easy to get lost.

Some modules or plugins are essential, while others, like those on your list, are more for discovery. Since you’ve commented on your choices, it’s perfect. Newcomers and even more experienced users can find something to suit them.

Nice

Just bought Pro Workout today with the bundle, I haven’t even used it and I already know it’s one of my top ten modules, updated my patch template with it connected and ready to go, I’m waiting to have some free time tonight to try it more but right now I’m just so busy…

I’m beginner yet in this deal, and no particularly fav’s in the complex stuff yet, but there is some modules that i would recommend to put attention for the same beginners (probably that could save time a bit for their search).

LFO by VCV, good base lfo, i usually use for testing inputs.

SEQ3 by VCV, good convenient seq, with builtin tempo control and instant running ability.

Triggers MKIII by AS, simple and convenient trigger button (even two’s). Ideal for checking drum modules.

Pianoid by Unless Games, simple piano UI keyboard. Even with selectable polyphony and latch (and latch activity is saveable). Ideal for “instant” design, and for quick check/testing synth modules.

Multivoltimetro by Nysthi, convenient voltage to digits meter (with min\max checking).

Player by CF, nice simple player for wav. With some extra things like pitch and start control (and instant playback mode).

ShapeMaster Pro by MindMeld, not so simple, but seems most complete offer for graphic curve form shaping in VCV.

Imagine by Pachde, image to signal synth (if someone like this direction, as me), seems currently best offer of such direction in VCV.

Freudian Slip by Frequency Domain, recently finding, sampler with some mangling abilities with spectral nature, quite liked, and it’s free (btw actually i would buy otherwise).

MFX by ALM Busy, good if you want “all in one” for fx processing. A bunch of effects in single microchip.

MCO MK2 by ALM Busy, the same “all in one” but for generate signals topic. A bunch of waveforms\signals and their forming methods. (unless you’re allergic to multi-level submenus)

Host (and HostFX) by VCV, as VST hosting modules, it’s impossible not to mention, should be grabbed at firsts.
