Tears for fears - Everybody want to rule the world
That brings back memories. From their album “Songs from the Big chair” (1985).
Title track “The Big Chair” itself being very much the odd-one-out track on this album. Odd but intruiging.
Madonna - Justify my love (1990)
From the album “The Immaculate Collection” (1990). A collaboration with the writer of this track: Lenny Kravitz.
Almost 35 years ago, but still has “that groove”…
Triggering more memories…on Ingrid Chavez, and her collaboration with other amazing and innovative mucisians David Sylvian (and Ryuichi Sakamoto).
Ingrid Chavez with David Sylvian - Remembering Julia (B-side of David Sylvian Surrender)
Ow…and now we landed on David Sylvian…so many great tracks.
David Sylvian - Orpheus from Secrets of the Beehive (1987)
From David Sylvian to his collaborations with ex-Can synth pioneer Holger Czuckay
David Sylvian and Holger Czukay - Plight (The spiralling of winter ghosts)
For those who are into background info…
Here’s a window into the creative process. David Sylvian, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Holger Czuckay in the studio, working on the David Sylvian album Brilliant trees (1984), which is brilliant indeed).
Just found this gem, audio not entirely perfect, but only version I found live, and it’s excellent a performance
Am’I a fool or the voice at the beginning is “processed man voice”?
It’s pitched down to the key of Radiohead’s Weird Fishes
Ok
The pitch scaling in not bad at all
Mellow instrumental from Lou. The main riff was always one of my guitar shop gotos that stuck in my head when the ability to play everything else had departed my brain.
segueing nicely into
and inevitably…
The evident links between this 3 tracks is perfect take, perfect mix and good mastering
From the godfather of synth. RIP. One of my favorites. i love the sequences, solo and the sounds especially towards thelast 10 min.
Something today reminded me of this; I haven’t heard it since the 90s (I still have the vinyl somewhere). It’s a very atmospheric album, full of those slightly ASMR vocals with a very different version of Elvis Presley’s Don’t be Cruel on track B3. A great lineup too.
so beautiful:
Oh, we like her crazy disco album over here a lot. I’m singing “murphy’s law” to myself right now.
