released in 2002 and still an audio/visual masterpiece.
A left handed Jazz bass and a red Mustang just like mine
This track on the ‘Hacks’ soundtrack got me listening to the first Graham Nash solo album, some great stuff - though ‘solo’ is a bit of a misnomer looking at some of the luminaries backing him up on there.
Listening to a lot of music today, mainly because my PC is basically out of action for actually making music currently - some annoying update crept on which it won’t let me rollback from has put all the USB ports out of action for audio devices so I can’t get MIDI in or out from USB and same for USB Audio from devices like my TR-8S drum machine. I searched for a backup and unfortunately the only one that looks like it may work is from September 2019 so I’m going to lose a hell of a lot of stuff when I use it. Consequently have spent 2 days doing backups of all my files - which is about 4 Terabytes onto a slow old mechanical HDD.
Still, that aside have been listening to some interesting stuff. Watched an online interview featuring Phil Manzanera and he mentioned that he made this album with a band named Quiet Sun who were actually his band from school, they effectively split in '70 and he resurrected them to record an album of their (very Soft Machine influenced) material when he had a studio booked and paid for to do one of his solo albums.
I just got “The Early Years, 1969” and am listening to it ATM. It’s really good (pre echoes, but they do a lot of stuff from the second album, and from more). Made me look up what organ they used back that - Farfisa Compact Duo plays every organ part up until maybe 1970. btw, when I saw them on the dark side of the moon tour (yeah, a little while ago) they opened with Echoes.
Yeah I’ve got the Arturia V Collection and the Farfisa plugin is great for a load of early Floyd sounds like the dark thin organ on “Set The Controls…” and the wandering organ on “See Emily Play”, there’s also a great little Kontakt library instrument called Organetta by AudioThing that does a very passable impression of the sort of cheap home reed organs that a lot of people had, so good for stuff like “Memory of a Free Festival”, early Bowie
I was noticing Arturia’s Farfisa. They are selling their V collection heavily discounted now. I’ll see what Farfisa stuff is in there.
no idea if that is heavily discounted but here in EU it is what I think normal price is, 599 Euros
39 eu flash sale, but I think we are talking about different products. This one is just a few thousand presets, not the full thing.
