im building a controller/interface for vcv in touchosc. i want to send a knob value (the bpm knob of sickozell’s clocker2) out to touchosc, to be used as a label.
any ideas how id go about doing this?? the first issue is to obtain the value from the knob inside vcv, the second is to send it. rn i suppose im focussed on the first!
edit: an idea i had would be to send a 1x clock cv value to cv->midi clock … then read the midi clock value inside touchosc. but tbh id rather read the actual knob value, bc as i have it set up, i can adjust the clock by specific decimal increments.
ya, originally i was using oscelot but it was much more cpu intensive i think bc of the mapping feature.
what im struggling with now is how to convert a voltage value (corresponding to the knob position) w a range of 0-10, to a bpm value w a range of 30-300
My knowledge is insufficient to understand the context in which you are placing yourself. Therefore, what I am about to say may not be of any use to you. The relationship between frequency (whether an oscillator or a clock) and voltage V follows the 1 V/Oct standard.
See here: Voltage Standards - VCV Rack Manual
nah (but thank you tho!) its based on knob position since im controlling the bpm parameter using a umap! ive figured out the conversion equation is y = 30 + 27x … where y=bpm(30-300) & x=voltage/knob position (0-1)
NOW my challenge is to express this equeation in a lua script to be displayed in touchosc
@idkreina , If you need a new module custom built, I might be able to throw something together for you. I recently worked with Holonic Systems on a new module that receives OSC signals, and I worked a bit with TouchOSC as well. If you have it covered aready, no worries.
hey! i have it all covered now, but thats very sweet of you to offer … i really do appreciate it. its my first time working with touchosc & i def bit off more than i could chew lol but its finally reaching completion (: thanks again!! imma post an overview of this project once its demo ready
