Hello, I don’t know if I chose right category, but this one sounds resonable for my post. Today I downloaded VCV Rack and almost immediately accidently I tried to move through panel space using space + drag method known from Photoshop and other Adobe apps. Of course, it didn’t work, but I thought it would be great improvment for workflow. Methods that are already in VCV (Ctrl + scroll to zoom, Shift + scroll to move horizontally) are also used in Photoshop, so I think space + drag would also fit there nicely. I hope this is not too hard to implement in VCV. Have a nice day 
When you say ‘move through panel space’ (not familiar with photoshop so don’t know exactly what space+drag does there), if you mean move the rack in any direction, middle mouse button & drag.
And you have one hand free to do other things
