Hello all. I am teaching a synth class and we have an old Moog 900 series modular setup. It consists of several standard 921 VCOs and drivers, 907, 904 A and B filters, two 960 sequencers, and three 902s VCA and 3 911s EG. There are various other modules bu tthose are the main one.
I want to use VCV as a teaching tool to build the setup we have in the studio virtually. Are there 900 series emulators in the. VCV library that can be used to do this?
Putting on my ‘student hat’ here… just spit-balling… and possibly mis-understanding your request…
As a student, I (personally) would find it more instructional for someone to
a) show me one example of how I might ‘emulate’ (not re-create) a particular Moog module in VCV Rack, then
b) assign me the task of “emulating the Moog xxx module(s) in VCV rack…”
ie, rather than relying on pre-existing ‘emulators’ to build out your existing set-up, have your student build each of the components in VCV - from the ground up - to then ‘emulate the entire setup’.
That is essentially what I want to do. I do intend to have them build similar setups with other brands of units but since we have an actual Moog setup, I thought it would be good to have them use the same modules in VCV since I can’t have everyone use the Moog at the same time.
But ultimately as a course, it is the concepts, not the gear so I fully get that. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.
