I just played with this too after @Omri_Cohen’s livestream :grinning:
Very nicely done @marc_boule and @steve :+1::+1:
However, it does take up a lot screen real estate and I ask if a 4 and/or 8 channel variant will become available?
Regardless, it’s a sexy mixer!! :kissing_heart:

This will be in the manual, but 0dB on the track VUs means 5V, but on the master fade it’s different and 0dB is 10V. So since 10V is the absolute maximum, a track will clip above +6dB but master will clip above 0dB when in hard clip mode.

In soft clip mode it is a bit more subtle than this for the master, since the VU is pre-soft-clip: this makes it such that a 12V signal (+1.6dB) reaching the master will be chopped at 10V.

So the picture you show is definitely not a mixing option, but just one track at +6dB on a track VU would technically be ok if nothing else is being mixed!

Oh, cool! I first ran dBaseII on CPM running on an Apple IIe clone  Then upgraded to an IBM PC clone, twin floppy.

Please note - a bug was reported in the release yesterday that caused some channels with active filters not to play when opening one patch from another. This has now been fixed so please download the latest version if you downloaded on Saturday. (Thanks to @Eurikon for the bug report!)

I just wanted to report it, but you guys are much too fast for me

In the interests of space saving an alternative cut down auxspander that only has group sends might be handy. Thanks once more for a fantastic bit of kit, can’t donate as totally broke but will at some point.

Thank you for the in depth answer. I know in certain DAW®s are excisting similar features and there you can®t “soft clip” individual channels neither, that®s why i was asking.

I first ran it on CPM on a Wang word processor with 8" floppies. Made good money writing dBase databases and later Clipper apps.

Nice! I specialised in Clipper too, ran the local user group, and spoke at Clipper conferences in Australia and the US. I have some friends keeping the language alive, X#

rsmus7 - thank you very much! your donation is much appreciated.

Can’t help but note that every donation we have had (5 so far) has come from people on this thread on the forum - what a great bunch you are!

Facebook peeps could learn a thing or two from you lot

Love what you guys do.

really beautiful stuff=)

Hear me out - What if

We modularize this mixer? - meaning, we start with one channel strip
and can then add channels as single channels
expanding the mixer to whatever size we need for that session
As soon as the single channels touch the main console part, it clicks and recognizes what channel it is

mmh?

Anywho, thanks so much
god i love smart s*** :stuck_out_tongue: much love@all, and again, thank you =)

Thanks for the kind words and suggestion! It would be non-trivial to implement this with the expander mechanism, so I don’t think we will go down that route, but it’s fun to think of nonetheless  Cheers!

I do hope that 4 and 8 channel versions with Aux’s are up for consideration. I’d love to use an 8-channel version as a drum sub-mixer, with maybe a unique verb on just snare and claps for example, then route the drum sub-mix into channel 1 of main mixer.

Not absolutely necessary of course, but a nice to have.
