Very cool! We also tried porting your modules, as well! Iāll PM you
Hi Dan, great to see you here.
Iām jaynothin and Iāve been playing with VCV exclusively since 2017. Totally addicted now. So thatās my intro.
Iāve been asked by Loopop, who is in the process of reviewing the MetaModule, if I could try and make a couple of patches so he can load them in the MM.
I donāt know much about the module, but Iāve installed the plugins package available on github.
Iād like to know, if possible, if there is a listing somewhere with all the plugins I can use (160-200?) and perhaps even their CPU load. As I donāt have the IRL module to test. That way I could be faster and he wont have to try and readjust everything.
Maybe Iām just anticipating to much and I donāt need any list But Iām in the quick searching process right now, so before I start building patches Iām gathering all the information I can
If there is a manual also? And if Iām not suppose to have any of this because Iām not one of the reviewers, no problem, I totally understand.
Maybe in my research Iāll answer my questions. But in any case, thank you.
All that info is to come! Manual, website with list of pluginsā¦ Iām talking with Loopop, too, so we can go more in depth about specifics over email if you like.
Itās going to be a little hard to create a patch blindly, but my suggestion would be to prioritize modules that are the built-ins: 4msCompany, Befaco, AudibleInstruments, HetrickCV, NonlinearCircuits, Eightfold, Valley.
Plus the open-source plugin brands so far:
Not all modules in all plugins work well on hardware. In general, if it does something that an old-school synthesizer module canāt do (like, have an XY touch-pad, or is impossible to use without the screen, or it does some magical thing like remote-control a neighboring module) then itās not likely to be very fun on the MetaModule.
As for CPU, reverbs use a lot of CPU. Itās fine to use stereo reverb on every patch if you want, but I wouldnāt try to add 8 reverb modules or something like that.
Thanks
Appreciate the answer and Iāll go with it this is great Iām sure Iāll come up with something even if I go blindly on it
That looks cool. It would especially be cool to use if youāve had a BA-level understanding theory and are comfortable with notation. My own musical practice any more is un-notated, and often Iām not thinking in chord shapes or melodic scales at all.
But OpusModus looks like something you could get really deep into.
This is exciting to see. Welcome!
Hey, I am Peter . VCV Rack is so cool!
I am currently into music theory and different tuning systems. Iāve done some theoretical discoveries, and I want to make them practically audible. Building some modules for VCV Rack seemed like a very logical next step. The ones I released are the very beginning, there is more to come. Check them out in the library at VCV Library
Thank you Andrew for building such a powerful piece of tech!
Very cool, @peterjungx . I am also interested in alternative tunings.
You should consider posting a dedicated announcement thread about your plugin to the Announcements category so everyone can find out it exists and what your modules do. Plugin announcements are moderated, so you will have to wait maybe a couple of hours before VCV Rack allows the thread to be posted. This is to ensure that the announcements are legitimate, to protect VCV Rack users from malware, scams, etc.
Excellent - we need more people experimenting with and/or developing for alternative scales and tunings.
You might want to check out my Venom Non-Octave-Repeating Scale Intervallic Quantizer. It is great for all manner of alternative scales and tuning systems
ehi just want to say hello, started using VCVrack for about a month and Iām having lot of funā¦my name is Davide I am from Italy, guitar is my main instrument but I have been messing around with electronic music some years ago with a roland mc505 and then with a little eurorack system. Now with VCV Iām learning new stuff and experimenting with modules I just dreamed about for yearsā¦and thanks everybody for sharing, this is amazing!
Hello, Iām Steve Brenner, the founder of Vector Modular, a new brand in the VCV Rack ecosystem, focusing on free and open-source modules. Iāve been using VCV Rack since its early versions, but my heart has always been with hardware. Since becoming a parent, Iāve transitioned into more in-the-box (ITB) work, and VCV Rack has been an incredible way to scratch that modular itch.
In my day job, I work in IT, and Iām aiming to dive deeper into DevOps, which (for the non-techies) is a field that combines software development and IT operations, allowing for faster and more reliable software delivery. This path led me to embrace coding and development, something Iāve always enjoyed but hadnāt fully committed toāuntil now.
VCV Rack has become my creative outlet to refine my coding skills while exploring the software development process. Iām excited to get serious about developing and releasing modules that will, hopefully, inspire creativity in others. One day, Iād love to expand into hardware as well.
Iām a huge fan of the documentary I Dream of Wires (I even own the extended Blu-ray) and love the music of Aphex Twin, Daft Punk, Datachāi, Com Truise, and more. Lately, Iāve been obsessed with the synth-heavy soundtrack from Vox Machinae by Brent Silk. Oh, and I still crank Mick Gordonās DOOM soundtrack at the gymācanāt get enough of its blend of metal and hard-hitting electronic music. Per interviews he uses Eurorack in a lot of it, which is awesome.
Thanks for welcoming me into this amazing community! My modules are currently under review, but if youāre curious, feel free to check out my site at vectormodular.com. Iāll be posting an official announcement in the āAnnouncementsā category once they get approved.
Looking forward to connecting with you all!
Hey everyone!
Iām Alex, founder of Black Noise Modular. Super excited to finally join the VCV Rack community!
We specializes in the production of handcrafted boutique Eurorack modules in France. Our main mission is to create unique and innovative modules that empower musicians and sound designers to express their creativity and explore new sonic territories. We want to make these tools accessible to everyone, and VCV Rack feels like the best way to achieve that goal!
For this first release, weāve focused on the highly-requested COSMOS, Slew-LFO, and the brand-new GOMA II. COSMOS was the perfect choice for this release because itās a truly revolutionary module, but can be tricky to grasp due to its uniqueness. Thereās really nothing else like it. Bringing COSMOS to VCV Rack will allow everyone to easily explore and understand the full potential of this one-of-a-kind module!
We worked really hard to make this port as faithful to the hardware as possible, which was quite a challenge! The result is a super accurate module, with additional features enabled by the software, such as polyphony and over-sampled logic outputs. And if, after all that, youāre still craving that special āanalog sauce,ā you can always go for the hardware version!
Weāve also taken the opportunity to add some new features to Slew-LFO and GOMA II, but weāll let you discover those for yourself! We hope you enjoy this first release and that these modules help fuel your creativity and take you to new sonic territories.
Feel free to share your patches and sonic explorations on Instagram, the VCV Rack forum, and beyond. We canāt wait to see where this bundle takes you!
We hope this is just the beginning, with more Black Noise modules set to join VCV Rack soon!
Grab your version of the COSMOS Bundle straight from the VCV Rack library And donāt miss the amazing video prepared by Omri Cohen
Hi people Iām Marco, saltatempo nickname from Aemodular AEM system (tangible waves and third party) community. Iām italian and I teach physics and maths to teenagers.
New here in VCV and in general in modular synthesis. I like to learn and recently I bought a second hand Komplete Audio 6 interface, so I have four DC coupled output to export VCV CV modulation to AEM system world. Some weird mechanisms to boost low output from the Komplete to max 5V of my hardware, but solved with an opamp diy amplifier. Now Iām ready, maybe Iāll start from ENTROPIA module, it seems wonderful.
Thanks in advice to all you experts from this community.
Clear skies with your sounds
Greetings!
Super new-to-modular user here, posting to greet the community.
Iāve got lots and lots to learn about this new audiocreative landscape Iāve ventured into, and I look forward to being able to gain knowledge and search for answers in this forum. Maybe some day, I will be able to answer a few modular questions myself! For the moment it all feels pretty abstractā¦ (and maybe I ought to cherish that feeling! )
Having a certain amount of experience in the realm of audio recording however, perhaps while Iām getting up to speed on what module plugs into which, I can in shed light upon questions about recording that might arise.
All the best, o2k
Welcome to VCV
and have fun in this deep rabbit whole
where time doesnāt seem to exist
btw I moved your post to the appropriate thread
Thank you, and for putting my post where it ought to have been.
Quick question: Is it desirable for me to create a sig file outlining some system details?
Iāve done this for some other forums ā I think it sometimes helps folks to have an idea about system capacity with respect to those, umm, āunexpected results.ā
I canāt figure out where to create a sig in this system, which is why Iām asking.
Thanks again! o-2k
we donāt have such sigs here
when you try to report some problems
you need to give some details about your setup if it is needed to help you
ok ā thank you, thatās what I will do.
best regards, robert
Cheers!
