Lets See Your Custom Module Skins

OK I give up. How is this done? Are there SVG files hidden somewhere or some blackmagicfuckery?

Just getting started…

Please be careful! The dictators and censors of this forum do not like the custom skins shown at the internet, they own copyrights on everything!

When you scroll a little up you can see that this thread was closed because some people including me showed their custom module skins.

First things first, we moderators don’t own a copyright on anything, the module creators do. There are guidelines, and posts violating these guidelines are removed, that’s how things work. If you are not happy with the rules, you know the way out.
Btw this is the last time you attack anyone on this forum, moderator or not. Consider this an offical warning

that new colors is an another layer, or just a change in the value of the original color? if it’s a change in value, it should (slightly) use less CPU, right?

I think it’s a change in value

Does anyone have any Nysthi Simpliciter skins?

I found this fast online editor Edit and Change SVG Color Online.

you will need to re-do these for VCV 2

… these are 2D knobs … don’t think the Fundamentals are interested in it in Rack2 … probably everything depends on Grayscale, who owns the previous design …

I meant for yourself

… for myself automatically

You inspired me the last time you posted :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: changed the ports a little…

EDIT no logo.

yes, at that time I also dared to make ports for the experiment, but the new ports in Rack2 are great … and even those 3D knobs in Rack2, or to tell the truth those black knobs in Rack1 are interesting, minimalist at least … but in a way quite enough extreme and that’s why I designed these white knobs. Most users are dealing with the color of the panels, but they could easily admit that they do not do it just to protect their eyesight at night (they only have an unnecessary excuse to break through to change), but they want to solve it mostly just because of the design. (at night we have to sleep normally in the first place and not ruin our eyes, especially if someone has eye problems … and the monitors can be dimmed) I personally love white panels too if the other components are nicely done

but I finally deleted this picture you shared because it is not correct to share the redesigned panel design with the vcv logo! … that’s why I divided my new image with a red line where my design is not associated with the logo. At least I hope that the red line will save the situation

… otherwise, question: what is the point of changing the design just for myself if I can’t share it? … Of course I don’t do it, but I’m interested in the answer. I have DAW completely redesigned for my taste, but I don’t share it anywhere because it’s my studio. But VCV or modular must be shared educationally because there are endless possibilities and it also looks perfect.

Among other things, is there a possibility to quickly change the design if I would like to share a patch without my design?

Your knobs make the Fundamentals look quite like Doepfer and Doepfer modules are great!

But… According to Andrew’s live stream a week or so ago, commercial Doepfer ported modules are going to start appearing in VCV fairly soon - so probably good that Fundamental don’t look too much like Doepfer now…

Doepfer modules in VCV is great news! Well thank you!

You change the design because you like it more that way, this in itself should be enough reason to do it.

You can’t legally distribute the changes simply because the license doesn’t allow you. See details

I assume you mean sharing a video of the patch. Since your redesign only involves copying and renaming svg files you could write a shell script that patches the fundamental or the component library with your stuff and another that restores the original svgs. You could then run these before making a video. This is also useful to have if you want to patch other modules that bring their own svgs, since those will overwrite them at every update.

All this being said, I’m not a lawyer but I think sharing videos or screenshots of modified module skins is fine as long as you don’t share the modified svgs/modules themselves.

Of course as the owner of this forum, Andrew can decide to ban screenshots of modified designs from here on the basis that they can easily lead to distribution of the actual svgs. But if you scroll back in this thread you will find screenshots of dark VCV and other copyrighted modules with logos on them that could’ve been deleted but weren’t.

Hi … yes I am aware of these things around the license and the logo … that’s why I used the red line that separates the original from my …
