how much hard drive space needed to install all vcv rack modules

Can anyone please tell me what is the total space required to install all the vcv rack modules (apart from the premium ones)? An approximation will be most helpful. I would also like to know the average space required to install each module.

As @Yeager points out, you can do the division and come up with an average size per module. But if you go down and look at the size of any particular module’s folder you will see there is an enormous variation in them.

There are not doubt various reasons for this. One obvious one is that modules that contain wave tables can be quite a bit larger than other, but because they need to to include all that wave data.

Actually a bit over one gig sounds pretty good - that average is not bad at all (in my opinion).

But why install them all at once? :thinking: That will just slow down the Rack module browser and you will be completely lost with all the modules.

Quite a lot of people do this, actually. For one thing, it make is possible to load other people’s patches.

A random +1 for making ones module collection grow over time.

I have to admit I got to over 1000 modules relatively fast myself… :wink: There’s always something new to try out and since you have to get full module bundles at the moment, it’s easy to end up with a huge number of modules.
