It’s up to the module developer to put in the tags. someone missed this one, it would seem.
I have reported this multiple times to @Vortico but he still hasn’t updated the module to add this tag. Sorry, there is nothing I can do about it as it is VCV that compile and release the module. I first reported this on 13th May 2022, so over a year ago.
I’d like to have a look at that list!
You can edit the .json file and add the tag for hardware clone.
Please read my previous email, and have a look at who has “released” the module. I’ve changed the tag in my code, but that doesn’t help the Library version. (edit: ie @Vortico has to merge the change and do a release, and that hasn’t happened for over a year).
The “brand” is the maker of the VCV module, not the “brand” of the hardware that was cloned. yes?
Edit: actually I got this wrong, the Brand for the A-124 is Doepfer, the Author is who did the software development and released that particular VCV Rack module, in this case I did the DSP but the module is released by VCV so the Author is VCV.
But the key point is that “Doepfer” could never be a “brand” unless they were to code up a module, or license their name to someone. Just because a module is in fact a clone of a “Doepfer” does not mean the brand could or should be “Doepfer”.
Sorry, I got it wrong. I got confused between Author and Brand, the Author is who coded / released it the Brand is the regular brand of the Module if it’s an official version of something.
The other key point is from what point of view you see the question, because from a user perspective it may be weird to look for something with the name Doepfer on the faceplate under a different name… I agree with you though! The one who coded it names it ! It is also how it workks with softsynths emulating hardware.
Does anyone know what the update was? The changelog is still showing v2.0.1
It may simply be the addition of the Hardware Clone tag, as it should have been there all along.
It is definitely there now, and was not before the update.
@DaveVenom was correct, we added the “Hardware clone” tag and a link to ModularGrid. Updated changelog.
So over a year of nothing happening when reported multiple times privately, and around 7 days when reported publicly in the forum with a tag. Thanks for getting this done @Vortico, much appreciated.
We received a support ticket last week and fixed it after our plugin build system was back up.
