To celebrate the release of my new collection CVfunk Sands, I’m holding a community patch challenge for the month of August 2026.
Create a patch exploring CVfunk modules. You are allowed to use any other free VCV modules you like in addition. The patch can be anything you like or think is interesting.
Then post your patch video to YouTube (unlisted is fine as long as the link works here) and also please share the patch at PatchStorage.com. Post the links here as a post, this will count as your submission.
At the end of August, the post with the most forum likes will win a free Sands Collection license.
Rules
The challenge runs through August 2026.
Your patch should make meaningful use of CVfunk modules.
Upload your video to YouTube and post the link in this thread before the challenge ends.
You may submit as many entries as you like.
Only one prize may be awarded per person (in the event of multiple prizes)
The winning entry will be the post with the most forum likes when the challenge closes.
Prizes
1st Prize: A free CVfunk Sands Collection license AND Modulations Collection license.
2nd Prize: A free CVfunk Sands Collection license.
If there is a lot of participation, I’ll add extra licenses and prizes before the month is over.
I will start then… I ran the alloy module through surge fm2 and used a million lfo’s and a couple of other cvfunk modules. hopefully in the spirit of it..
This would’ve took my money over Effects Bank but my money has been stolen by a new switch 2 so I can’t buy a license just yet… maybe in a couple months or even November at the latest… can’t wait to hear what comes out of this in the meantime!
Yeah, it definitely sounds like fun, if I wasn’t focused so much on recuperation from last month I’d have bought it sooner like in September or something… I can’t do it yet even if I get spare cash cause I’m in saving money mode and worst case I have to wait a few months to spend less during the Black Friday sale in November… but I still have the modulations bundle from last year that still keeps on going
This comes at the perfect time. I was planning to spend the rest of the summer digging into a bunch of modules I don’t know much about, and CVfunk modules are on that list. I’m looking forward to seeing what others come up with and learning from them!
My first entry uses CVfunk modules for all voices aside from the kick, and syncro for the clock.
I believe the intention is that anyone (or at least Cody) is able to run the patch. Only Free modules from the VCV Rack library. No paid, no unpublished. Other submissions have non-VCV-brand modules, so that must be ok.
Thanks! That’s what I thought, too, but wasn’t sure. Some of the submissions so far also use paid modules. Maybe rules aren’t that strict here, which would be okay with me, either way.
Awww. well I guess I’ll let it slide. But the spirit of it was that people could share the patches. However, posting on YT and linking here is good enough for an entry.
I bumped up the prizes!
These submissions are great so far. I’m really amazed with what you all can do musically.
Thank you for clarifying! Wow, more rewards, thanks! Already having fun with diving deep into the CV funk modules. So many options, already got side-tracked more than once .
not sure if this was in reference to my patch, but i figured i would double check the modules i used anyhow - totally forgot the VCV compressor is a paid module, so i swapped it for the Bogaudio compressor and re-uploaded it to patchstorage. i think it now should meet that criteria.
Here is the Scala scale file used in the Nysthi PolyScala Quantiser. Extension has been changed to .txt, change to .scl and add to the quantiser (via right-click) before hitting play:
I’m liking this challenge a lot so I made another entry, this time using as exclusively CVFunk modules as I could. Only an 8face to add some variation and a button to resync if things get weird. I know I’m not using Pressed Duck to it’s fullest but it replaces Mindmeld to give that strong CV Funk.
