Announcing: Sapphire Elastika

Whoa, those are some really funky guitar effects! Have you ever listened to “By-Tor and the Snow Dog” by Rush? It’s a little like that growling dog guitar effect taken to a whole new level, with some psychedelic sprinkles on top.

It’s fun to see Elastika used like that. I would never have thought of that myself.

Thanks, haven’t heard that but I’ll check it out! I’m sure there are many more cool sounds to discover given the time. As with most effects, it’s really the modulation we have available in VCV that opens up the possibilities.

Thanks, that’s a good idea actually. I usually use clean tones but found that Elastika works quite well with distortion, so I added some grit ans also quite a lot of compression on the last one.

"Elastika now uses about 60% of the CPU it used to, thanks to a complete overhaul of its physics engine.

Added an optional resampler to run Elastika at a different rate than the engine rate. For backward compatibility, the resampler is disabled by default.

UI improvement: the channel count sliders in Hiss, Pop, and Split/Add/Merge now visually “snap” in steps, instead of sliding smoothly."

I need to figure out how to better automate this for people who don’t have GitHub accounts.

Sapphire 2.5.7 is now available in the VCV Rack Library, and includes the CPU optimizations mentioned above for Elastika.
