WhatTheRack: a Rack randomizer

Just to let you know, I am loving the What the Mod module - it is really good at introducing new modules to oneself, and is helping me break out of using the same modules all the time - thank you very much @korfuri

Isn’t it sometime helpful to get the newest modules shown?

How would you define new modules for the code to see it?

I’m not sure I understand what you’re suggesting. If you mean focusing the window in some way around the newly spawned module, I’m not aware of a good way to do that using the present API. If you mean giving more probability to newly-released modules, there’s no such metadata in the plugin definition (and the v1 manifest format doesn’t add that metadata either) so I don’t think that’s possible.

This is what I was hope to get.

I sure hope this makes it to 1.0. I love this plugin so much!

Oh dear, I just found this and would LOVE it to be available for 1.0
My go-to patch-file isn’t working in 1.0 since a couple of plugins I used are not available yet, so having some randomness and coming up with completely new patches seems would be much easier with something like this.

Thanks for your effort!

I’m working on v1 compatibility as we speak. I was waiting for the actual release because I’m (mis)using some APIs so I didn’t want to risk more API changes. I have a working build with v1 feature support (undo and polyphony are supported), and I’m going to submit this to the plugin library today  Source is at https://github.com/korfuri/WhatTheRack/tree/v1

Just stumbled upon this and can’t wait to give it a try! 5 sequencers and one VCO? Sounds like a Rack I’d build.

If you want to try it before it gets released to the plugin library, I have builds for 1.0 at https://github.com/korfuri/WhatTheRack/releases/tag/1.0.0

As there are problems with more than one audio out plugin, I would suggest to exclude this type of plugins from the random process. Got several crashes here on OSX 10.13 because of this!

Good to know, I will look into that. I’m not sure how to filter these out, because there’s no “audio out” tag. Do you know what modules specifically caused the issues for you?

The VCV ones mostly, but I think it is not a good idea to have several of them.
Causes a very loud tone signal and the computer is dead, you have to turn the computer off and delete the autosave after restart manually

possible you have to make a manual blacklist?

I released a new version of WTR that adds Rack 1.1.4 compatibility. This should fix crashes when using WhatTheRack with 1.1.4. Builds are at https://github.com/korfuri/WhatTheRack/releases/tag/1.1.0 and will be released to the plugin manager soon.
