Enchufada label founder Branko is to release 14-track compilation, ‘Enchufada Na Zona’ — a natural extension of his NTS radio show of the same name.

Roughly translated from Portuguese, Na Zona means something like being in a specific place, occupying a zone and owning it — a fitting metaphor for Branko’s career as a DJ and producer exploring the global side of club music.

Been binge listening to Aoki Takamasa the last two days. Thanks again, @SpaceTraffic

Here he is with a song

Been having memories watching some Miami Vice, so hearing lots of Jan Hammer and classic 80s.

I’ve always felt “Crockett’s Theme” was one of Hammer’s weakest pieces. Compare and contrast:

I much prefer his work with Mahavishnu Orchestra too

A Roadrunner cartoon soundtracked by modular synths…

And in the same groove, Wallace and Gromit cut to Squarepusher… (The phased drums against the train tracks is genius.)

I agree, but for me he’s a bit second rate. Everyone who ever played keys with Miles is more interesting than him. imao.

I’d have to pick nits. I do think he’s had a number of particularly weak pieces that nonetheless got famous. On the other hand, he’s also done some very good work as well. (Methinks the word is “uneven,” but that applies to most artists.)

I liked this and it put me in mind of Toy- Toy:

I’m sure i’ve linked this here before but I couldn’t find it.

Tangerine Dream were already contracted to produce music for Street Hawk and were unavailable when Michael Mann was producing Miami Vice. TD had worked for Mann on soundtracks for Thief and The Keep.

Richie Hawtin. Been in a minimal techno/acid house kind of groove lately and this shows just how good it can be if you get it right.

More organ! Larry “Spaceball” Young on organ, and of course John M on guitar. They both played on bitches brew, so you know the rule.
