What are you listening to?

There goes Sir Sting reviving a song written many a year ago, as all of the sudden it is very much relevant again:

I remember hearing this song and others on his first solo album, “The Dream of the Blue Turtlles”. I thought it was pretty good but the song from that album that really hit home with me was definately “We Work the Black Seam”:

I’m vibing so hard right now

This song is “old” now, like pre-pandemic!

I hated this when it first came out.

But now I quite like it, especially for the guitar.

It’s been a long time since I lowered the tone in this thread:

Been listening to this continuously for the last 2 days.

Yeah, I remember one year they put out 5 albums. I see I only have a tinny subset of them: image

Drifting back into the early eighties.

A period where the availability of affordable synths and effects (analog and digital) spawned many great and innovative artists and tracks (and new genres). Often synergies of acoustical and analog and digital.

This example is almost 40 years ‘old’, but still withstanding the test of time…at least for me…

Freur - Doot Doot (1983)

Freur was a Welsh new wave/synth-pop band featuring Karl Hyde and Rick Smith, who went on to form the electronic act Underworld.

Several versions:

Freur - Doot Doot (Extended Version) - 1983

Freur - Doot Doot (Official Video)

Freur - Doot Doot (Live 1983)

I just played this 4 times straight. I can’t remember the last time I did that. Glorious stuff.

An ‘old’ one I’m listening from time to time:

Yeah, I love “Cellophane”. Almost afraid to go farther down that rabbit hole.

Kaputt by Destroyer !

I discovered it a few months ago. The mixing is incredible, it’s really a feel good album ; I’m more into twisted and dark music myself so it’s not my main type of things but I’m listening it on repeat nevertheless (to my surprise)

Enjoy

I always got confused, and thought that this (you’re the voice) was by this band :

So… There was this band Spooky Tooth. Their guitar player went on to start Foreigner. Their keyboard player was Gary “The Dream Weaver” Wright, and their drummer went on to be in The Only Ones", the most criminally unknown band of all time.

This is a “famous” spooky tooth song. Pretty silly/dated/etc… spooky tooth-evil woman - YouTube

All of my favorite music seems to be from 1968: Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, Moody Blues, Santana, Led Zeppelin…

Buddy Holly was from my town, but I was only 7 when the music died and I never knew of him then.

Hey, I have a rule - whenever Santana comes up I post the video of Soul Sacrifice from Woodstock. best video ever.

I recently got one of the zillion Pink Floyd release: 1969. I like it a lot. It’s got a lot of favorites, most of them like three times.
