I pointed out that the VCV name and logo is copyrighted, and asked if this was officially endorsed. I got the following unconvincing reply:
“Visiv T-shirt is it allowed I can order it Sure”
Needless to say, I won’t be buying that!
However, it did get me wondering if anyone else would be interested in proper VCV merchandise? I would love an official t-shirt that supports the project.
Yeah definitely not official, and also a crap design! Maybe the community could submit designs, and we could vote for the most popular to be made available. It’s a bit of work finding a decent supplier, and sorting out a web shop etc, and obviously it’s not my decision either, just putting the idea out there.
@Alphagem-O thanks, hadn’t seen that! Certainly looks more legit. I’ll buy a few of those if they ship to the UK.
@Luca-Feelgood agree, Facebook is a cesspit these days. I rarely look at it, but the VCV group is one of the few reasons my account is still active. That’s gone downhill recently too.
Hmm, its nice for sure I’d love to see different designs (I think the style where the front just has a small logo and the rear has a large branding across the shoulders is particularly nice)
I’ll probably get one of these
Surely this needs to be linked to from the VCV website?
Apart from VCV. I’m not about to stroll around in a tee with VCV printed on it. There are much nicer T-shirts out there! But everyone has their own personal taste.
I’m guessing the Grayscale designs are sanctioned. I notice Vortico edited my post and removed the link for the dodgy Facebook site (which is entirely fair, I probably shouldn’t have included it) but the other link has been allowed.
Not an expert on these things, but the spammy Facebook effort is likely to be breaking copyright law. I’ve ordered a few from Grayscale anyway, will see what the quality is like when they arrive.
But I’m sure someone could come up with a better design than this! Perhaps something with just the logo, no text and a few patch cables somewhere? That’s my two cents!
Screen-printed is much better and the print longer lasting than a transfer, which are rubbish and is probably what the abomination above has
Screenprints are more costly to do (but worth it IMO), so I guess there’d have to be a set number of confirmed orders. The more orders the better the deal could be got from a supplier(?), and so perhaps cheaper to buy per shirt?
Having said all that, I actually know very little about all this! Just spitballin’
I’m still not sure if the Grayscale ones are official merch, I’m guessing it’s been sanctioned by the VCV project. I have a few on order but shipping takes a while. Should be here soon, and I’ll update this post on whether they’re any good or not!
Up to about 11 years ago I bought a LOT, and they were good quality 100% cotton tees, and screen-printed. The company itself seems to have gone from strength to strength so I have faith that they’re still good.
