Thanks Andrew, this makes it clear. I’ve sent my request on the support page.
I don’t get why some people get so angry over stuff like this. Yes, I’d like my favourite plugin format supported… I’d even assumed it was coming soon. Sure, I’m disappointed AU support is not yet set in stone, but Andrew is just one person who’s made an amazing piece of software that we all use and love. An ecosystem of creativity and music-making has grown out of Andrew’s efforts and to me that’s worth my support even if it’s not perfect.
Lesson learned to be more suspicious of products with vague selling points. Yes, I made an assumption, and that’s on me.
I made the mistake of assuming that something called “Pro” would aim to provide standard formats that every single other pro plugin I’ve encountered provides. Hell, most free plugins worth their salt exist in VST and AU formats.
I won’t be selling my license, or requesting a refund. VCV will simply silently sit while I continue to use mirack and Cardinal, as they work well enough for what I need them to do, in the formats for the DAW’s I use.
Simply disappointed in the arrogance of the comment “we’re considering” adding the main that any audio designer using a Mac would be using. I only sprung for the pro license due to the misleading “More plugin formats coming soon. Professional support” from the product page.
If honesty were a consideration, then perhaps it should be changed to “We’re considering adding other plugin formats, maybe”
No one is angry. We are allowed to ask/raise questions aren’t we?
We are having a debate and conversation, which I think is relevant to have. Some very relevant questions are asked.
There are obviously several issues that customers would like to know about. Most companies I know gives estimates, which I think is a very good idea, especially for smaller companies.
“Considering” is just not good enough, sorry. Either you do it or you don’t. Be transparent, so people knows what they can expect.
The person above you sounds angry, but it’s sometime hard to tell with online communications. It’s easy to misunderstand ppl. but, to me, that circle person sounds angry.
I am just another happy VCVRack 2 Pro and Logic Pro X user who shares the hope that AU support will come to VCV, some day, to connect these two exceptional musical environments.
