VCV Host-FX/Host-XL - no sidechain input?

If @Vortico et al want a challenge, why not a sidechain input for Host-FX and Host-XL?

I just started messing with the new AudioThing Arguments plugin and it’s meant to be a way to combine 2 signals using the VST input and sidechain.

You CAN’T do that with VCV Host-FX, because there’s no sidechain input.

What say yinz?

Just tested it with Audio Thing Arguments and Host-XL, the first stereo signal goes into XL’s inputs 1/2 and the sidechain signal goes into inputs 3/4 :+1:

Definitely receiving and working

Ta mate. I looked at the manual, and this is not documented anywhere. Thanks for doing the research!

EDIT: I tried this too and it does not appear to work that way for me. I only installed the VST3 version, are you using VST2?

Yes, VST2.

Also, to add: there should be no difference with the VST3 version, in practice. If there is, the Host-XL module of VCV isn’t currently mapping the input channels correctly for VST3 plugins. Just to make sure, I now installed the VST3 version of AudioThing Arguments, and hosting it in Reaper, routed a signal into channels 1/2, and another signal into channels 3/4. Nothing more needed, the signal routed to channels 3/4 appears as the sidechain signal within the plugin - just like in the VST2 version. Can confirm this doesn’t work in VCV, and the VST2 version of the plugin is needed.

This looks like a bug report is needed

@Vortico: do you think it is a bug?

FWIW, I can report that TDR Nova works as expected as a VST3 in Host-XL. Sidechain on input 3 is functional.

Sidechain on Fabfilter Pro-C 2 also works als VST 2 and as VST 3.
