VCA with 2 CV inputs for velocity and ADSR?

The title says it all, I hope.

Currently I always use the “LittleUtils” Mult/Divide module to create a CV for the level VCA. I am using the A*B output, A being the ADSR envelope, B the Velocity signal from my keyboard or sequencer (Entrian).

As an alternative, if a velocity input were part of an envelope generator, I could also use it for filters, providing envelope as well as a brighter sound for higher velocity values.

I searched the library with no luck. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Maybe to simple a thought…but you can plug multiple cables into an input. The incoming values will be summed. E.g. an ADSR envelope and velocity and/or other modulation source. You can use something like Befaco AxBC if you need multiplication and summation.

You usually want to scale by velocity, not sum with it. So I’m not sure stacking cables is the easiest solution here.

Surge EG x VCA has a built in ADSR and plus 4 modulation inputs. One of the modulatable controls is level, so you can turn that down and then patch velocity to a mod input, then assign that mod input to the level at some appropriate depth. That does what you want! It also has an Env out port that you could patch to a filter module.

Try Venom Quad VC Polarizer. Put your ADSR in the first VCA cv port and plug the cable out to second channel input and send your velocity to that channel cv port. 2 more channels so you can do it again. Or just scale your ADSR with your cv in the same way.

If having scale in the envelope module is required, several nysthi envelopes have cv control over scale.

Check out the Bogaudio VELO with 3 CV inputs - it is specifically designed to work with simultaneous velocity + envelope + tremolo.

Pretty cool, didn’t know that existed, would be great if there was stereo version of this.

you can make one with stoermelders “mirror” module

Oh snap, never used that before, Stoermelder to the rescue again. Thx!

You can try docB’s EVA. It’s a 2hp ADSR envelope with built-in VCA. Connect velocity to the Gain port. Also, EVA has an ENV output to drive e.g. a filter.

+1 for EVA. Its in all my patches lately. Super convenient.

It is polyphonic, so paired with a 2 hp Grande MergeSplit4 it can be effectively stereo.

Sorry for the late reply, but thanks for all your suggestions.

I ended up using docB EVA, it is perfect for me. Builtin VCA plus ENV output to use with a VCF or anything else, small footprint and Gain input for velocity.

At first I missed the VCV ADSR visualization until I realized that 2 EVAs (for VCF and VCA) plus a VCV Scope for the visualization actually need less real estate than 2 VCV ADSRs and a VCA.

Bogaudio Velo is also still on my radar for when I need a third CV input.
