Synthesis Technology E370 Quad Morphing VCO and E352 Cloud Terrarium were designed to be the most advanced wavetable oscillators for Eurorack. Backed by a successful $262,000 Kickstarter campaign in 2017, these modules are now available for VCV Rack as a bundle for only $30.
We added extra enhancements such as a clickable screen, SD card emulation for custom wavetables, and support for Rack’s 16-voice polyphonic cables.
Instant purchase, thanks.
Well, nearly instant. I may have to wait until pay day but it’s a no-brainer to get this one!
A lovely memorial too, congratulations on the release.
I had a quick look at it. I run it at 96khz. Seems the right choice.
I have my Modular @parking in a corner of my room, so i can´t fire it up right now.
And i patched only something like 5 times since November. So, hard to tell for me vs. the sound, but i´d say: Sounds good to me ! I´m NOT a 1:1 purist person, though.
What i definitly can tell is:
in HW land, “Modular” in my case, am i totally a WT-VCO guy.
In SW-land did i NOT find any WT-Synth that worked out for me.
I tested my own WTs i´ve made for my E370 on several SW WT synths.
NONE was “sounding”…“my Sound” was NOT there !
Looks good with E370 in VCV rack. My strange very much high frequenzy content sounds are there. E370 has a to me a unique “hifi-ness” in the Highs. From subtle HiFi beauty to metallic to harsh, but it sounds allways pleasing,…i mean: awesome. NICE to dig in all the inbetweens.
Works for me in VCV with that new “Synthtech in memoriam” release.
By all the analog HW vs. SW discussion, i have no problems to find “my” good analog sounds in SW, => with some post processing applyed. But i just never could find “my” digital WT-sound ITB. As strange this sounds.
It’s been years since I had either module in hardware (I was an early adopter of the E352, and beta tester #1 of the E370.)
The VCV version of E370 is very dependent on the engine sample rate for how it sounds. I’m not sure whether any of the settings exactly match the sound of the hardware. I need to run my audio interface at 48K to keep my ADAT stuff in sync, and I’m not sure if 96K in the VCV engine (with oversampling) is exactly the same as the hardware module’s 96K.
Regardless, it sounds good, and is fantastic for setting up complex drones. I don’t know whether I miss the “real” E370 or it’s just nostalgia but this goes a long way toward making up for it
For feature requests, open a support request with the developer of the module (in this case that would be VCV - Support). While some module developers gladly take feedback and requests here, VCV likes them through their support mechanism.
Although, it might be a good idea to discuss with the community here to refine your ideas before making a more formal submission to support.
To be clear, my post wasn’t intended as a support request / update etc. – it’s probably just a fact of life, a consequence of running on software with somewhat variable sample rates vs. hardware with a precisely fixed clock speed driving everything. Especially when dealing with audio rate modulation such as FM.
Hi guys i didnt get how to use “Sample Play” mode, it’s make no sound.
Do Banks like “ROM A” should already contain factory waveforms ?
Or it intended to load user sample to them ?
Would be useful to see video review for exactly vcv version.
I also did check user manual for E352 but not sure if i figured how Sample Play mode intended to works lol (sorry a bit dumb here)
By default, the E352 SamplePlay Mode has Looping turned off so either this needs to be set on or send a gate/trigger to the SYNC input to play as a 1 shot.
