The default can be on while still preserving sound of old patches. Within dataFromJson set the 2nd channel to the saved value. If the value does not exist (old patch) then set the 2nd channel off.

Ah cool. I’ll leave it up to Mahlen to decide which approach is best. I would personally prefer not to have to disable it for each new instance, but it’s alright either way.
you can always just set it as you want and save it as the default via the presets right-click menu. I do this with many modules where I always set certain things (Clocked must be set to not keep CV outs high when clock is off, must reset internally and externally at start and internally at stop, for example). Set that once, save as default. Every new instance is instantly as you want it from there on.

Ah right! I keep forgetting rack has that capability also. I do it with reaper plugins all the time. Thanks for the reminder.
