Slow loading of app on Windows?

This seems to have just started today for me.

When I run the VCV Rack application, it takes a significant time to display the UI.

I was concerned that it was due to a new module I am developing, but it is the same with or without any modules in the patch, saved or autosaved.

When there is a patch, the audio starts up correctly, I can hear it playing even while the application is all white.

The log timestamps potentially indicate something?

Does anyone else have a startup similar to mine?

Yes! It takes much longer than usual (although I don’t get the white screen, and I always mute my patches when I close), but I’ve noticed this over the last couple of weeks (Windows 11). Just the standalone though. VST loads fine.

Thanks for confirmation, I’ve emailed support to see if they know anything.

This looks like it’s the VCV Pro phoning home license check that is slow. This should be only the first time you launch on a given day, unless the VCV license server is having issues.

For me this happens every time i start it, once a day would be fine. I mean it’s not a big deal, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t happening last week, and i haven’t updated anything as far as i know except some plugins. Issues with the license server sounds plausible…

I saw on another forum that Cloudflare was having issues again. Tickets are useful in this situation to alert VCV something’s going on.

I was debugging the issue with VCV Support when today the issue has just gone away, the app now loads pretty much instantly for me.

I guess this still jives with license server issues, but its frustrating not to be able to actually pinpoint the root cause.

Still, won’t complain, back to normal, I will continue developing my new module :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

sometimes it opens in few seconds, sometimes it takes much more, but my 7yo win10 laptop is getting tired :black_heart:
