There are a few modules that I pretty much always use, in a certain way, so I like to have them setup ready to go in the template patch.
But my template patch changes quite often, as new plugins and modules are released or as my habits change.
I would be interested to see anyone else’s template patches.
This is my current template patch in Rack 2, I did have the whole MindMeld mixer and EQ setup, but I found it to be a little overkill for my simple generative style, so I have swapped it out for the BogAudio mixer, which provides the main features that I use.
I’m rather new to VCV myself, just getting started with v2’s release. I have one default template that just has my MIDI-CV and Audio units set. I’ve started building a folder in my presets for just “templates” so I can go in there and select one of them based on mood or what I’m thinking I want to do. Example I have one with a bunch of random/sequence devices clock and quantized called Chaos. I’ll share some when I get off work later.
Of course, borrow all you want, steal all the good things you see other people do (wasn’t there some famous artist with a quote about stealing all their best ideas?)
It is sort of a dirty way to get a little bit of interest into the stereo mix, but quite often I find that the side channel actually doesn’t have much on it, because I haven’t paid any attention to the panning.
Another trick that I use often is to apply a fully-wet delay at 0% feedback with very small times to either the left or right channel, then the mid or side processing is much more pronounced.
Has worked more or less like this pretty well for the last 1 1/2 years, but I’m thinking about making a fixed rack template soon.
Oh yeah, there’s some stoermelder modules missing right now, mainly the ones for stickers and the other one that lets you have shortcuts to get to places in the patch. Mixer gets shift+1, fx sends shift+2 and then depending on the patch i’ll use 1-2 more to get around the patch.
