Ryzen 5 3600 vs Ryzen 7 2700

Out of these two options, which will Rack take the most advantage of? I’m leaning towards the 3600, given that it’s a newer, faster chip, yet i wonder about the extra cores available on the 2700.

the Ryzen 7 is better no doubt, I have a Ryzen 5 beside a Radeon Vega graphics in my laptop and it work pretty nice with the rack + renoise on Linux (xfce)

I have a Ryzen 7 1700 in my desktop,
usually I use 4 cores in vcv seldom I use more cores,
the cpu has enough power,
the gpu needs to be fast for vcv,
I use a GTX1050 that is doing the job ok,
but this could even be a bit faster imho

The 3600 should be significantly better despite it having 2 less cores.

All the DAWBench and other DSP benchmark scores I know of are using the 2700X (which has higher base and turbo speed) rather than the 2700, but even then, the 3600 seems to be beating it by 20-30%

AMD 3K has greatly improved architecture, 3600 has double the L3 cache of 2700 and less cores to share it between as well.

I’m going with the 3600, thank you!

Good choice. It looks like it has stellar single-core performance for a fantastic price. Good choice for Rack!

If you want to go with Ryzen 5 3600, why not the Ryzen 5 3600X? I think the price difference is not too much and you get a more powerful CPU.
