I have some one shot drum samples, actually i cut them out to one shots from drills, and there is a background reverberation effect which i would want to remove somehow? How can it be done?
Go back and make dry samples to begin with ![]()

I dont have the particular drum in question to sample it myself unfortunately.
Removing information from audio is challenging, but new signal removal VSTs come out all the time. Maybe Reaper has some tools. Not something I’m very familiar with. I wouldn’t look to Rack plugins for non-realtime signal processing like this.

Sometimes a transient shaper (or 2-3 in a row at low D/W) does the trick.

You can build a simple noise gate out of an envelope follower, a comparator, an ADSR (to avoid pops) and a VCA.That should work.
