Ah, thanks for explaining Ben, I see that my thinking was wrong. Mind you, I still don’t really understand the whole mechanics. If you’re good with block diagrams you might do us all a favor. I would love to make all those ends, of engine, DSP threads, audio threads, multiple threads and priority meet in my little head
Yeah, It seems single threaded async stuff works super well on web servers (Nginx, NodeJS…). But they always say if you need/want more CPU you can run multiple instances, or run other stuff on your sever. And most servers probably aren’t CPU bound anyway. (don’t really know, I must admit).
For audio you really do want to get all of your cores running to the max processing audio. The devil is in the details. I think @stoermelder 's guess is a good one, but we won’t really know until that code is public
