I think i solved this. I had a mismatch in bit rate between Live and VCV Rack VST, 48khz vs 44.1. I matched the bit rates to 48k and the method described by steve works; no jittery clock.

When I try the CV tools method in the video above, the Clocked module in VCV doesn’t receive anything at all. From the video it looks like you don’t need to plug anything into the Clocked module for it to work. Is that correct?
No - you need to send the 24ppqn audio pulse clock signal from CV Tools into Clocked’s BPM input - exactly same as you would do with the Midi > CV method - only this time the clock pulse will be coming from the ‘from device’ outputs of the Audio Module (you can see the blue jack in Eurikon’s video).
