Preset shuffler

Hello, I tried searching the forum for perhaps a past question and didn’t find any. The question I have is regarding presets. I was wondering if there’s a module that allows preset shuffling or morphing. Perhaps that’s a bit optimistic but it would be so helpful for my live performances.

I recently fell in love with the @jw11 JW ABCDSeq, and while it is quite impressive on its own, I have developed an urge to have the option to go between presets. That idea also felt like something other modules could benefit from. Perhaps sir @stoermelder has done?

Did you try stoemelder’s TRANSIT already?

I did not! I knew Ben had thought of this already

That depends on your definition of “preset”.

If you are talking in the general sense, then yes, @Alphagem-O 's suggestion of Stoermelder Transit is perfect. It is a very deep, amazing module with support for morphing.

But if you are referring to VCV module presets, then no, there is no way to morph between presets. There are 8Face and 8Face Mark II with expanders that allow creation of patch presets that can be sequenced. These are not named presets, but they use the same underlying mechanism as named presets. You cannot morph between them, but you can sequence them.

Normally I would use Transit instead, but Transit can only control parameters that have visible UI controls. Some modules have context menu options that cannot be controlled by Transit. But these context menu options are typically stored within presets, so the 8Face modules can access them.

If you don’t need the gliding between values from Transit, DocB has the Preset module that can select presets with cv. It’s handy.

yesterday i tried out preset. it works, but i discovered, that it will not recognize new saved presets during it is beside the other module. i have to lift it off, then back and the new preset is there. is this correct?

Yeah it needs to be pulled away and back, a little annoying. Maybe we could beg DocB to look at that. Otherwise it is great and can even shuffle factory presets.

@docB hello, do you have any idea about that? any chance to make it possible from your side.:+1:

i could add an “update presets button” in the next version.
