Newbie here. Just recently started VCV+ (until I can purchase it outright). I’m on Cubase 11 and my sorta-kinda MIDI controller is a Korg Kronos, which I’ve been using for orchestral VST’s for years with no problems. My interface is an SSL2+. I have a bunch of patches I’ve downloaded from patchstorage and I can import them, but there’s no audio. Cubase shows the MIDI input, but VCV does not. For example, I’ve tried changing the MIDI input in one patch with a MIDI CV module. Tried every option available in the dropdown menu. Nada. Am I missing something here?
EDIT: update. some of the generative patches I downloaded work just fine and some don’t. The ones with MIDI CV input still do not work.
I’m not clear whether you’re running Rack standalone or using the Rack Pro VST/CLAP plugin.
Are you on Windows?
If you’re on Windows only one software can access a MIDI device at a time without adding a third-party virtual cabling driver. Close your DAW before opening Rack standalone and it should work.
(This will change in the coming month with new MIDI support coming to Windows).
I haven’t use Cubase for years, but sometimes use VCV Pro with Reaper. Could be a MIDI mapping issue in Cubase?
With Reaper, I arm a track for recording, set the input to MIDI then select DAW in the MIDI-CV module in VCV. That should get MIDI into VCV Pro, to get sound out, make sure DAW is selected on the audio module and that should present sound to the track.
Yep, did all of that. No dice. Legit, no idea why this is not working. Either the patches themselves are messed up somehow or MIDI just isn’t getting into VCV. I’m much more inclined to believe the latter.
Ok that confirms it. There’s some disconnect between my keyboard/Cubase and VCV. Cubase is still showing MIDI being triggered but your module does not show any MIDI activity whatsoever.
It’s a long time ago for me, so just a wild guess: I recall there are different kind of tracks in Cubase (midi, instrument, audio etc) and not all work with sending midi thru, which you also have to select somewhere.. You probably already checked, but could it be this?
