new module update = no vcv start

hi

After updating the latest modules, I can’t start VCV (windows 11). When I opened log.txt, I see everything in alphabetical order, so I can’t find out which modules I updated last, and I don’t even remember them (there were about 5 modules). What do you recommend I do?

Thnx

remove these plugins from the x64 folder

(by removing the folders)

And start Rack again.

Thank you very much! VCV is working again! If I understand correctly, I shouldn’t update the modules now, but only after it is confirmed (in some way) that they are already fine?

They seem to be downgraded now, so you could try updating/downgrading, or just wait a few days.

And you know what to do if it goes wrong

yes, that’s what I thought too, I’ll wait a few days

Thank you again!

Can someone test which of these packages (if any) crash Rack on Windows when loading? Include your Windows version, Rack edition (Free/Pro), and Rack plugin format (VST2/3/AU/CLAP if applicable) that you used.

All OK on Rack 2.6.3 Pro Standalone on Win10

Although Alef’s bits now wants to update from 2.5.6 to 2.5.54

Same on Win 11.

Thanks for addressing this so quickly!!

That’s because 2.5.6 is lower than 2.5.54 , he knows this.

No crashes here with Rack Free 2.6.4 on Win 10 22H2

Can I ask… how did you figure out which modules were causing the problem? Is there any way to track down the modules in this case?

The plugins in question were all updated with the last library release and were affected by a problem with the updated toolchain that builds the Windows binaries for the library.

So it was easy to identify them.

I’ve re-released Airwin2Rack 2.13.0, GP 2.0.1, OuroborosModules 2.1.2, and TinyTricks 2.5.4 to the VCV Library. Five Windows users have tested these binaries with success, but let me know if any plugins fail to load and I’ll revert again.

Thanks Andrew!

… yes, I tried them update again and everything is fine now … thanx!

so in the VCV library, if I sort by the latest updates, it is significant which ones are the latest, and also if they are problematic they clearly signal it … ok, thanx … I’m not a programmer, but some things are good to know … as long as the internet still works

Actually, no, they don’t signal a problem, you can only check by removing plugin folders, which plugins are causing an issue. But since Rack2 worked until the latest library update was installed, it was very obvious, where to look, The rest was checking the few updated plugins by removing and adding plugins. Turned out all were affected.

aha … okay … so if I had to update up to 30 modules, I have to test each one of them to find out which ones are causing problems? … it’s not a full day’s work, but at the same time all due respect to the developer’s work, because they have to think about at least as many things as there are types of computer systems … anyway, thanks for the clarification, at least what I understood from it

These plugins all work fine now on my Win11 system under Rack Pro 2.6.4. Thanks for fixing this issue so quickly.
