My Music - Paul Piko

Recreating the Blade Runner theme - this is genius

Thanks for the ego boost

Cheers, glad you like it

Thanks Rick!

Thanks Lars.

Yes, that’s a great patch  Finding the appropriate video to accompany a track can be really hard.

Hmm, “squelshy”. Not sure about that, can you give me a timestamp? The phaser, Ripples and Plateau give movement to Plaits. With the right bandwidth and centre frequency, phaser gives it an airy texture. Same thing happens with Ripples by modulating the resonance and cutoff.

Valerie’s not really contributing much, I could have either removed it or tweaked it more.

The VCF gives what could be called the whale-song. Freak-Ripples is somewhat similar but a little more “tweety”.

If it’s the phaser-Ripples combo, having heard the separate effects I had a hunch they’d work well together. Same with the filters, I was looking for more unusual sounds from them.

Yes, it was the “whale song” Where did you find this video actually?

It’s a Winamp Milkdrop visualisation

It’s called “martin - night in the forest”. The one I used for the recent Eno cover was “martin - sunset over the river”.

Ahhh
is it the module we have in VCV Rack or the separate Windows program?

As far as I know, it wasn’t updated to 1.0, at least for Windows. So I’m just running it as a standalone.

I love the Charles Hazlewood documentary “Tones, Drones and Arpeggios”. I just watched it again! https://www.charleshazlewood.com/tones-drones-and-arpeggios-1

And then I wanted to try some minimalism using VCV Rack

Well done, @PaulPiko!. Pieces like Riley’s “In C” are kinda inspiring. It’s a wonder he was not able to come up with a suitable follow-up. Have you (or anyone else) been able to find a workable link to the second episode of Hazelwood’s documentary. I can find plenty of links to the show notes, but no video links.

Yes, it looks like only the first episode is online (there’s a link to it from Charles Hazelwood’s site, linked in my video description). But the second episode doesn’t seem to be available right now. It’s excellent too, covering Philip Glass and Steve Reich. I’m feeling lucky I’ve seen it. The BBC re-ran it at end of last year. I’ve reached out to find what the official word is, hopefully I hear back from them.

Someone on FB found it: çșȘćœ•ç‰‡.æžçź€äž»äč‰éŸłäčçš„魔抛.S01E02.2018[高枅][è‹±ć—]_擔擩擔擩_bilibili

Good stuff!

Thanks. I didn’t think of looking on Chinese web sites. I’d really like an official release :-).

Charles Hazlewood got back to me, but unfortunately there’s no official release of the second episode. For now there’s just the link Lars shared above.

I also found it by digging into some “unofficial” sources. Very interesting deep dive into Phillip Glass and Steve Reich.

It’s been a while since I posted anything of mine, but I’ve been involved with some projects. This one is a contribution to the DIY Hard Musician Guide collaboration album.

I’ve been playing some Star Citizen, so used footage for the video

Another step along my path to making synth tracks reminiscent of the those from the 70s and 80s. The track title comes from Carl Sagan’s famous words in the documentary series Cosmos: “We are made of star stuff”.

First time using the @Squinky Organ Three, and it was exactly what I needed

(At the time of posting, YouTube was still processing the HD version of the video)
