Wondered if there were any recommendations for a vst plugin that I can load in VCV and handles multi sampled synth libraries, something like Ableton Sampler but vst so can load directly in to VCV

For something with old school character, TAL Sampler, for something powerful if you have deep pockets the top soft samplers are probably Omnisphere, Falcon and Halion. Kontakt too, obviously.

My SFZ Player is free and is a powerful multi sampler native to VCV. There are tons of free multiasampled instruments available in SFZ format.
