How much did the input and output tokens of that much data going back and forth every time cost? That must be an enormous amount of tokens used…

I don’t track token usage. Since I have a Claude Pro account, it is not so important to me. It has been a long time since I ran our of my daily token allowance and was put into time-out for a few hours. I just now asked Claude and it says that the TOC adds 3000-5000 tokens usage per turn, which in that week long chat is significant but dwarfed by the length of the chat. In my LLM experience, all chats eventually become unusable.
fair enough. Was really just wondering how efficient/inefficent Claude Pro might be in token usage across a very long chat session.
Im not sure what resource to recommend. Wikipedia can illuminate most of these terms.
Just this week I installed Qwen3.8 locally, and it’s rather slow and not as good as Opus, but I can set it on extra hard effort and let it go for however long it needs. Honestly rather blown away by its ability to parse huge amounts of code, and it found valid bugs. Requires a rather good computer however.

And maybe I should add. I’m a Taurus, and I like Add9 chords, min9 and min7ths. Also stacked forths can sound hot. If i am in a bad mood I’ll switch to sus2 or even sus4!

I think I probably misinterpreted the theme of this topic. Perhaps… I’m not sure.. Is the intent to talk about music theory without getting deep into music theory? I don’t want to hijack anyone’s topic.
Nothing to hijack, i am totally into getting into the weeds when the conversation goes that way. But an informal hang to talk about music and theory as a subject, how it informs patching, how it overlaps the science of sound. Anything is welcome as far as I am concerned.

In the context of music theory and VCV Rack modules, what do you consider to be the most capable chord generator module(s) in VCV Rack? Can any module come close to creating the jazz chords being talked about here?

no I have tried a lot, but I just want the notes exposed so i can voice lead like I want to.
Something like Four TRACK can give me rhythm as well, the chord mode will lock rhythm or I can go freestyle, and when I return much later it reads like music enough I can see what I was up to
Forsitan has a pretty good one that addresses the chords between the scale tones well, i think it adapted from some code from a eurorack module, forget which one

Do you think there would be much interest in a module that could convert from “jazz chord symbols” or the “Nashville Number System” to chords? I’m having a conversation with Claude Pro in my harmonic music theory chat about this topic.
Not sure how others feel about the idea.
For myself it would be nice to have an interface that let me select a root, Major or Minor key, and then a short list, like maybe just 4 chords and either specify Roman numerals or Nashville numbers ( same thing of course).
But then do i want all closed chords, or do I want voice leading with a mixture of inversions?
And then can I tweak one chord in list for fun? Like substitute Am7 in F for A7 for a little push into Dm. See how convoluted a list of attributes gets in comparison to me just writing the notes out if I want to be so picky about it.
I mean some bright designer will get me to try yet another chord generator I am sure, but I do not know if any will be better than writing it out myself. Only thing I wish is I like 5 note chords and it is a drag PGMR is just 4. Cv Funk Arrange is 7 channel, but you only can see one step at a time, so im still looking for my fave chord generator. Maybe I will play around with Voxglitch piano roll today!
Several years ago and a few years before VCV Rack, I ported Meander to Ableton and Max for Live and played around with a musical score editing library. There were lots of problems with the whole approach due to MIDI latency and jitter, but, it was fun. Do you think there would be much interest in a score editing module for VCV Rack that would allow you to graphically build your chords in standard scoring notation? I’m just exploring ideas. I’m unlikely to develop such a module myself, due to my age. I like thinking about things like this and talking about them even if nothing comes from it. Do we already have a score editing module? I cannot remember.
Did you ever experiment with the Squinktronix Harmony II ?

Perhaps there is a place for something like standard notation module.
I like the Harmony II chord maker, it has some connecting chords and typical progressions worked out in advance.
