Five new modules join the MPX (Modular Polyphonic Expression) collection for VCV Rack 2 Free.
mpxScore reads a MusicXML file, the score as it appears on the sheet music, and plays it over MPX cables. MIDI is not involved. It reads the notes and the composer’s markings directly from the score, including dynamics, articulations and playing techniques. The signals on any MPX cable can be converted to and from standard VCV signals, such as 1V/octave pitch, gate and control voltage, with the mpxIn and mpxOut modules.
mpxPiano, mpxViolin, mpxViola and mpxCello are voice modules. Each one receives its part from mpxScore and knows how to play the markings in it. mpxViolin, mpxViola and mpxCello are state-of-the-art physical models of the instruments and play with a high degree of fidelity to the real instruments. No samples are used. mpxPiano is based on the excellent Salamander Grand Piano sample set.
