Hello!
What modulation techniques do you prefer for fast and short envelopes?
i usually use the adsr enveloppe from vcv even though on fast attacks it tends to click a bit partirularly on bass sin signal
If you modulate cutoff and amplitude separately how do you do it? I like the adsr from vcv too!
SLAP from Vult is my choice when I need fast envelopes. furthermore it has a stereo VCA as well
If I just need to set and forget, the sickozell envelopes have a level control, that is once you use the right click to connect it to the envelope and not just the vca. Most times I will just use a VCA if I need level control that is active, the simple one from VCV is very visual and useful for tuning something like this. I’m sure there are some where you can mod the level in the envelope module, I just fail to think of any right away, probably SurgeXt and a few others. But I suppose all the one with vca with cv input can do this too and that is quite a few.
I was more thinking in terms of other modulation than amplitude, so for instans length of decay, a resonant spike maybe or cutoff modulation.
Right – it’s all CV. You can use envelope anywhere you’d use an LFO (or HFO, for that matter). Might be nice for a burst of (aliased) FM for some bite in the attack of a note.
Yes, and since they are short there is not as much space to do things as in longer hits, what I am trying to figure out is if you are using different strategies for longer vs shorter hits.
That’s modulating the length of the envelope. How that’s done depends on the envelope generator you’re using. For transients, that envelope could just as well just be a gated LFO (square/reverse saw/wave) with a sync/reset.
Hello again,
Yes when the gate length of the envelope and release is already tuned in as short/quick what is your strategy sounddesign wise, so do you do anything in particular with the cutoff or something else.
