I have an Akai Mpk mini mk2 keyboard, and when I select it in the Midi > CV module and choose the Windows MIDI driver, there is still no sound. The audio driver is also selected, and the computer keyboard control works, but there is no Midi signal.
Does it work with other applications?
Yep
Could it be you selected the wrong device? Some keyboards show up as multiple devices, for example one for notes and CC and one for DAW control.

Yep, my Novation SLMKIII shows up as three devices. I’m guessing you tried them if there were any other entries in the list? I’ve used a few different MIDI controllers and never had a problem, seems s strange one.

I have the same issue, also with my akai mpk mini
It works here. If you connect a scope, do you see signals coming into VCV Rack when playing notes on the keyboard?
I will have to check this evening, but I think I dont even see the possibility to select any device when I select Windows MIDI in the upper left corner
