So I’ve just recently come across the Metasonix KV-100. Sadly, it’s no longer in production and existing units are EXPENSIVE so I was wondering if anyone has a VCV equivalent to the KV-100? I already have plenty of use cases for this unit but $7,500 is umm….. out of my price range.
Well it looks like there modules in vcv which can emulate the features:
Tubes module= vacuum tubes
A good filter Vult do a fair few
What else do we need:
Band pass filter Vult or Squinky F2 filter
I believe all these features can be emulated but will take a bit of experimentation to get the tone just so.
Noise gates:
You are right you can patch it up with different modules, but a noise gate is something different than a noise generator.
A noise gate is a vca that opens/closes with a certain reaction time depending on a certain threshold (the noise floor). It closes when below the threshold. With this, you can reduce/remove an unwanted noise signal (and still play with high gain/drive), which is a very handy utility for a pedal like the KV-100.
There are noise gates modules in VCV, but they are not the noise generators you posted.7
